391 follows the District line throughout the entirety of its truncated form Actually got me thinking. What bus routes terminate on both ends at a station on the same line without any changes. Some examples I can think of 86: Stratford and Romford both are on East TfL Rail 55: Walthamstow Central and Oxford Circus are both on the Victoria Line 473: Stratford and King George V are both on the Woolwich Arsenal to Stratford International DLR Line 333: Tooting Broadway and Elephant & Castle are both on the Northern Line H91: Hounslow West and Hammersmith are both on the Piccadilly Line

Probably explains why useage of those routes is not as high as you would expect. The 190 copes with SDs every 15 mins due to it being in competition with the District line to Richmond, Stamford Brook and Hammersmith, the 156 runs against the same line calling at Vauxhall, Clapham Junction and Wimbledon and Richmond to Clapham Junction can be done in 8 mins by train.

The 156 & 337 load well despite this. The times I’ve been over on the 190’s corridor and rode it, loadings have been busy to rammed so it shows how bus services are very needed to run alongside railway lines even along substantial sections.

Precisely, even if both ends of a bus route may be served by the same railway it hardly makes the route useless. The point of these routes is generally not to provide end to end travel but rather a series of links between settlements. For instance, even though parts of the 190 are similar to the District Line, large parts of the route run solo, providing unique connections, even though the 533 does assist the 190.

Exactly remember for lots of people the walk to the station will be too long so having a bus service nearby is good for them. The 533 only supports the 190 for 6 stops. Of course these routes aren't packed midday but can't you say that about a lot of other routes?

The 190 could do with a DD conversion, especially as the 33/419 are not serving Hammersmith. If Metroline retain the 190, perhaps they could transfer the full 17reg VWH batch from the 7 to AH for the 190 and 306?
