They probably book too many in on the assumption that some won't show up. You want to be a fly on the wall in a recruitment office for a day! I had my assessment day at Metroline (WJ). Turned up in a suit and was polite and compliant with the process. I think 12 people were booked in for assessment. 11 were eliminated fairly quickly. There were no shows and late people who missed the tests. One turned up in ghetto fabulous attire and was sent away. A few failed to bring ID and licence documents that were very clearly stated as necessary for the day and were sent away. There were some attitude failures with one person starting a full on argument with recruitment staff and was required to leave the premises. I couldn't believe what I was seeing and imagined recruitment departments have to deal with this sort of thing on a daily basis. People who either aren't serious about getting a job or haven't prepared for the big day. I was the only one who made it through to the medical, driving assessment and interview that morning and got the job. To be honest, the operators make it quite easy for PCV holders that meet their requirements to get a chance with them. It can seem there are a lot of steps to follow but for good reason. Some people really don't want to follow the recruitment process so there's a conflict there. I can quite understand a lot of potential applicants not wanting to follow a long winded recruitment process when they can probably go to a couriers and get a job after a bog standard interview. I would have thought operators would be moving heaven and earth to get existing PCV holders signed up if they are short staffed.

I’ll just have to see about the references on Tuesday, The recruitment department haven’t come back to me regarding this but as explained my last company (not buses) has gone into administration. When I started out years ago it was never like this. It seems that these companies just want to tick boxes. Incidentally I’ve a friend that’s quite high up at another London operator and they tell me because of the poor standards of the hr department potentially good staff are slipping through the net! 💁♂️

Friend of mine went into one and registered and was working within a few days.

intsolutions.co.uk/ - Intergrated were quite popular when I worked at NP. I believe they have a contract with London United. There is another one (if someone can help out) that I can't remember for the life of me, but it's along the lines of Thomas Lewis agency.

My missus works in a school but she chooses to get paid over 12 months. Less every month but a wage every month.

I assume so, Its 30 hours so that would mean six hours a day. Thats 3 hours a morning and 3 hours per afternoon, That must be a long school route
