These changes will commence on 29-August Goodness, quite a bit earlier than initially expected. Bus changes seem to be moving quickly nowadays, the 383 extension is practically being done within a month!

Surprised there has been a consultation for the 383 extension, unless it's similar to the N20 extension I think it's labelled as a 'temporary' change so doesn't need a consultation per se, and yes it is similar in that it increases hospital access. Perhaps if they wish to make the changes permanent there will be a consultation.

Its a temporary change and TFL should consult on the proposed changes whether the extension should be permanent or not, but I would pretty much prefer if TFL consulted on the proposed changes first but I'm not sure if Covid-19 could be a reason for the extension happening so soon?

I wonder if the 384's extention to Edgware is succesful I wonder if 606 will discontined within time. The 384 doesn't go anywhere near the Totteridge Academy, which is one of the main objectives of the 606, so I can't see the route being withdrawn completely. Getting from the Academy to Barnet isn't easy, given it's uphill all the way. When Sovereign ran the 606 there used to be additional short workings from the school to Barnet Church in the afternoons.

Just had this email from TfL which might be of interest
Invitation to TfL webinar - Bus routes 384, 292, 606
Good afternoon You are receiving this email because you kindly took the time to respond to our consultation regarding proposed changes to bus routes 384, 292 and 606 in late 2018. We published our decision to proceed with the proposals as consulted in April 2020, and as previously agreed and in in response to further requests, we will be holding an online meeting for residents and interested parties to discuss concerns around the implications of this decision. This meeting will take the form of a ‘webinar’ hosted via the online ‘Zoom’ platform at 18.30 on Monday 20 July. To register your interest please email LocalCommunitiesandPartnerships@tfl.gov.uk We will then contact you later in the week with joining instructions. Please do note that the meeting will be recorded. Kind regards Geoff Hobbs Director of Public Transport Service Planning Transport for London

I still dont see why they cant stump up for a couple of extra buses and extend yo Edgware and keep the back street routing around Cockfosters. Dare I even say it maybe the money could come from cutting the 292 back from Rossington Avenue to Borehamwood town centre.

Dare I even say it maybe the money could come from cutting the 292 back from Rossington Avenue to Borehamwood town centre. That section gets far more people than the 384 does around the backstreets, if there was so much demand for the backstreets then I'd say the 384 is axed, the 340 is extended to New Barnet and all the areas the 384 previously served become DRT.

I'd suggest you read the consultation and see how many people were opposed to the re-routing between Barnet & Cockfosters first - what's also interesting is 604 people opposed the Edgware extension as well. DRT should not be used as some excuse to axe a route, particularly one that no one else has either wanted or asked to be axed.

Kind regards Geoff Hobbs Director of Public Transport Service Planning Transport for London Thanks for sharing - can someone explain why they are doing this after the decision to go ahead rather than before the final decision is made? Because they promised us a public meeting if they ever possibly decided to implement the plans, and people are very angry about having the bus service they depend on withdrawn. This shouldn't be seen as a substitute for a proper meeting but it's the best we're going to get currently. Plus there are also potential legal challenges happening about the validity of the consultation. TfL deliberately fooled us into assuring (in the interim consultation report in Feb 2019) that they would be considering alternative options and possibly doing further consultations on these, so they said at the time they didn't need to schedule a public meeting. Then they blindsided everyone by publishing their decision at the height of the pandemic so as to encounter the least resistance. Also, the entire consultation was conducted on the basis of false Information: that no household would be left more than 450 metres from a bus. The true maximum distance was subsequently shown to be 630 metres in the Equalities Impact Assessment that was published after the consultation had closed.

These changes will commence on 29-August According to what information? They previously said vehicle route tests were not even scheduled until September, but if true this confirms what we already knew about JCoSS being TfL's only concern, plus they want to try to do things under the radar while the pandemic is still active. TFL are reprehensible.

TfL has a far greater responsibility to the 'backstreets' of Barnet (actually stations, high streets and residential areas that will be left up to 630 metres from a bus) than it does to an area not even in London than doesn't contribute TfL via GLA funding.
