I am hearing of a proposed strike on the Central Line over working practices this Friday. Confirmed - ASLEF have called a driver's strike due to a breakdown in industrial relations. These issues have been rumbling on for years. Takes a lot to get ASLEF out on strike so it must be pretty serious for them to resort to a strike. Will be fun watching the much reduced route 25 cope with the mass hordes.

Strike extras are planned for the 95 (Greenford - Shepherd's Bush) & 487 (Alperton - Willesden Junction) also.

When was the 25 much reduced? When TfL reduced the numbers of buses running on it and introduced something called a 425 and then didn't tell anyone where the 425 actually went? 425s were leaving Ilford empty while 25s and 86s had passengers on them from the same stop when I was in Ilford a few days ago. I *know* only 2 bph were taken out but so far as passengers are concerned the 25 is half the service it was. If TfL don't publicise changes properly what on earth do they expect to happen? People to pick up the info via "magic brainwaves" or something?

People to pick up the info via "magic brainwaves" or something? Publicity could certainly be better but surely most people just ask the driver if they are unsure where the bus goes? Some might but others will just look at the countdown display or their phone and look for a familiar route number and wait. The onus should not be on the passenger. The onus is on TfL to tell people well in advance and for a period after the change. TfL also need to get timetables on stops in due time - wasn't it the case that no route 425 timetables were evident at stops east of Stratford town centre? How can people check if there's no timetable? None of the online Spider Maps, for the main centres along the Romford Rd east of Stratford, show route 425 running to Ilford either. Assuming the same applies at bus stops (I haven't checked) then it's impossible for people to know. That's pretty shambolic to be honest (recognising you said publicity could be better).

I would have thought the E7 would be a contender for extras as it runs along the Ruislip/Northolt/Greenford/Ealing corridor. I also hope to see some of Ensignbus’ finest out on the 25.

I don't think strike extras are run on the 86 when the Central Line is down, previously extras have been used on the 86 when the TfL Fail is down but it makes sense in such cases as the 86 parallels a much larger part of the line it makes sense to use that as the extra number instead of the 25. I imagine should any strike extras happen on the 25 they'll be running no further East than Stratford although I do wonder how far West they'll run. Ideally they should run as far as Oxford Circus but I wouldn't be surprised to see them only run as far as Holborn.

www.aslef.org.uk/article.php?group_id=6375Earlier today I read the interview by the boss of GoAhead buses in London, saying Friday has become quieter than Sunday, so I wonder why ASLEF have chosen a Friday rather than a busy day. Unions representing public services are legally required to give 7 days notice, so it appears that it has just been kept quiet for first few days.
