With route 60 approaching forty¹ years since it's South London introduction I would love to see a special anniversary service for September 4th over its original routing of Telford Avenue to South Croydon Garage. Ironically the anniversary date falls on a Sunday for a route that then only ran Mondays to Saturdays. ¹ - September 4th 1982 with RMs The 208 and 261 also have their 40th anniversary on 4th September. Both RM routes initially, they were introduced in 1982 to replace the 94, and parts of the 47 and 51. The 94 was operated by both TL and TB but passed neither garage. All on-the-road crew changes were remote reliefs, meaning that travelling time had to be paid. It also meant the service become unreliable if crews were delayed getting to and from the changeover point. The 208 passed TL and the 261 passed TB, thereby eliminating the issue.

It was also the end of the C3/4 express routes between Croydon and New Addington, the C1/2 had previously been amalgamated with them. There was also a local off peak C5 in New Addington that was withdrawn a year or two previously although it's operation was a bit hit and miss anyway. The C3/4 were replaced by a peak hour only express service on the 130 and 130B which later became the X30 when the 130B was withdrawn and partly replaced by an extension of the 64. Drop the money into the box so no cash handling for drivers until the mult-ride ticket was introduced.
