If there's any upcoming bus consultations you know of please could you put it on this thread. Thank You!! TfL have stopped publishing their advance list in the Customer Services Report. Presumably because every single target date was missed so if you don't publish the info you can't be criticised for being late against your own list! I assume that when TfL get round to deciding which town centres are going to be massacred with bus cuts then we will get consultations for those. I also expect many more consultations to change Central London routes. It is completely clear that the current round of changes is not the first as the network is not sufficiently reduced yet.

Given the surveyors have been out on routes in the Bromley and Orpington areas lately I think it’s highly likely there is something afoot. Certainly there is a fair amount of duplication that could possibly be dealt with eg Orpington High Street to Orpington Station and Bromley Common to Bromley High Street

There was supposed to be a Night bus consultation that never happened. Only potential night bus change so far is the withdrawal of the (N)271.
There was also mention of one for the 32 that hasn't happened.

I believe that the 32 is proposed to have further frequency enchantments with other routes being reviewed along Edgware Road on routes like 142

We are still recovering (or not) from the last set of crazy changes in Orpington. The only change that could make sense is to cut the 51 section from the War Memorial to the Station, but even then, with the daft siting of the zebra crossing at the War Memorial, there is no room for 51 to stand without causing blockage of the roundabout.

Inevitably we get the usual hysteria from certain quarters on here but thinning out services on certain corridors makes sense. And maybe merge the R2 and R6 into one route for example?

I preferred the 199/208 as it gave more cacapcity between Lewisham and Bromley Market Square (which is a very popular section) and reduced over bussing between Market Square and Common and removed a route between Catford and TL. Majority of 208 users have boarded before Lewisham Town Hall and alight at the Market Square which renders the 320 less useful.
I heard the 32 was going to involve a diversion to Willesden Green or something.
Maybe the 261 could extend to Orpington and the 353 diverted to Chislehurst with maybe another route to Ramsden Estate and the 61 withdrawn.

Certainly there is a fair amount of duplication that could possibly be dealt with eg Orpington High Street to Orpington Station and Bromley Common to Bromley High Street If you're not careful, you can end up with some nonsenses though by that approach. It's a question of both where people want to access in a town and where stand space is available. From the north, ending a route at Perry Hall Road, for instance, doesn't quite get people to the main shopping area, and is even further for those who require the station. Similarly, cutting the 208 back to Orpington Station would be madness, as there are probably very few from that direction who require the station as opposed to the commercial area. Such relatively short overlaps have to be accepted: in any case, the War Memorial is unacceptable as more than an occasional turn for late running. As for Bromley Common to Bromley High Street, the level of service now is much worse than even in the bad days of the 1980s/90s. You had 'working' garage journeys on many routes for much of that time, plus the late lamented 402 route. Cutting the 61 back to TB for instance would be an entirely retrograde step: I can remember when it was extended from there to Bromley North in the first place, to give Crofton Lane residents a direct Bromley service. It'd be a bit like saying all Turnpike Lane Station terminators that come through Wood Green should instead terminate at the latter point, and be replaced at TLS by routes cut back from WN like the 29, leaving the High Road to through routes like the 141. Hopper fare is absolutely irrelevant to this argument.

Hopper fare is absolutely irrelevant to this argument. I don't see how the 208 could possibly terminate at Orpington Station anyway, surely the turn into Station Approach would be too tight? I wouldn't be surprised if the 61 ended up being withdrawn completely and replaced by changes to other routes. Bromley Common to the High Street currently has the 61,208,261,320 and 358.

What "usual hysteria"? I see no hysteria. Do we really need words like massacred? Back on topic I've been tipped off that the Croydon consultation is due to drop anytime now - apparently, the council has already had a look at it and it's now awaiting to be released to the public. The only change I know involves the 404 & 434 but I suspect the 75's cutback to West Croydon will be in it as well.

Bromley Common to the High Street currently has the 61,208,261,320 and 358. Of those, the 61 might conceivably be vulnerable (perhaps to an extension of the 261) on the Orpington - Bromley section but other than that, I don't see a lot of scope there. You've got shoppers into Bromley, commuters to Bromley South station - particularly important on the 320 -, students to the expanded college at Bromley Common where there's also a big new housing development, and a main hospital beyond that at Locksbottom. The 208 and 358 are always packed when I've used them. I remember when the R1 turfed people out at Bromley Common - the commercial 358 didn't happen by accident.
