This was inevitable as I’ve seen the blinds on multiple 483’s. I can only imagine the 427 cut is coming soon.

This is a great idea but will this move make an easy picking for Abellio because it's on there doorstep? Who knows.

This is a great idea but will this move make an easy picking for Abellio because it's on there doorstep? Who knows. Not necessarily - Look at the 171, terminates on TLs doorstep, but Stagecoach haven't managed to nab it off GAL yet. It all depends on if Metroline can put in that cheaper bid and can work out a cheaper schedule compared to Abellio. What they've currently got in place could work, depending on how much cost cutting either Metroline or Abellio do. I hope Metroline keep it, Abellio have taken enough of their routes recently.

The good thing is the 483 will still run into the hospital grounds so at least no inconvenience for hospital bound passengers. Hopefully the route remains reliable given some of the areas it runs through.

It would have made sense for Metroline when ordering a new set of blinds to put it on in case the extension got the go ahead rather than having to add it in at a later date which would have cost money. There are VWs travelling around with ‘N7- Rayners Lane’ on the blind set and the HD blinds have ‘X140 Harrow Weald Limited stop’ on them

Good to see the route still running via Ealing Hospital. I’ll be interested in seeing the stopping arrangements towards Harrow. I wonder if buses will serve St Bernards Gatehouse? Passengers being taken around the loop in Ealing Hospital when they are going towards Ealing Broadway could be a little frustrating. To me it still seems like a means to curtail another route. Even with the 483 doing a double run via the hospital, there is still space to terminate a route on Uxbridge Road at the bottom of the hill.
My *guess* is that we won’t see any cuts between now and the mayoral election. The main bulk of consultations lately has been around route extensions and new links. Not many have been implemented as of yet, some even deferred. Can you imagine the uproar if the crazy Beckton cuts went ahead in the run up to the election?

This was my fear for the 384 consultation, that they'd try to sneak it through after the mayoral elections, but now the elections have been delayed until 2021 because of coronavirus I don't really know where that leaves things.

Excellent news. This is the best of both worlds, the link to the hospital grounds is vital. I hope that the new links proves to be a useful one, for Abellio it may be good as they could use the 483 to reach the 207's changeover point but I expect they'll continue using ferry cars. Of course the 483 will now terminate on GW's doorstep so Abellio will want to win the route in future if they can, would be interesting to see Abellio in new parts of London like Harrow and Wembley. I would imagine this extension is so short it doesn't affect the PVR hence why its can go ahead so soon.

I did think a compromise to the 427 cut would be to cut the 207 to Ealing Hospital and keep the 427 to Acton. That would still remove 1 of the routes between Southall and Ealing Hospital but would maintain 2 routes from Ealing Hospital and Acton via Ealing.

The problem is that a compromise shouldn’t even be on the table given the busy nature of the corridor. The 607 is probably already running around with little spare capacity and that’s with at least two routes helping it out in the middle section.

The frequent 207 and 427 help to mop up crowds and spread loadings out to avoid overcrowding getting as bad as it could be. Pilling mor pressure on to a very busy route like the 607 which is at capacity now and needs all the help it can get is not a good idea.

New stop post(s) and drivers toilet installed on Windmill Lane. Didn't see where the stand was located, but toilet is next to the Selco building. If stand is to be on the main road next to the toilet (and therefore block one lane of traffic when on stand ), then it is still a roughly 8 minute walk from the Abellio garage.

That toilet has been there for a few months now - the spot is, or was in an advanced stage of being reclaimed by nature! I moved a bus out of GW last week and noticed there were newly installed but stop flags but no road markings yet. The stand will be in the inside lane.
