Looks like the same list of works that we've had for the last 5 years or so. At least the Kings Cross route appears to be free of impacts near the centre. The closure on the GOBLIN is probably academic as the line is likely to lose its trains after 23 December anyway so there will be no service until the electric trains are actually handed over and drivers trained.

Looks like Christmas falling on a Tuesday has extended the period as some works run from Saturday 22 Dec right through to New Year The big works at London Bridge are now complete, so not Thameslink route this time. Looks like Victoria (and during 2019 major works on Brighton line) instead I understand the Chelmsford / Southend line works are replacement of lots of the 1950s electrification Will Goblin actually reopen on time (allowing for on time changing from Dec timetable change)

Looks like Victoria (and during 2019 major works on Brighton line) instead I understand the Chelmsford / Southend line works are replacement of lots of the 1950s electrification Will Goblin actually reopen on time (allowing for on time changing from Dec timetable change) Well yes no Thameslink in Central London issues but lots of engineering work on the MML instead! The GEML wiring works have been going on for the last umpteen years. I know it's a busy and complex route but surely they should be finished by now especially within Greater London as a lot of the work is related to ensuring Crossrail has a reliable infrastructure? To be fair to Network Rail we had far fewer speed restriction / dewiring issues on the GEML over the Summer despite the soaring temperatures so the new wiring and masts / tensioning is clearly much better. The rumour is that the GOBLIN will have no trains after 23 December as the 172s MUST go to West Midlands Trains who MUST release an equivalent number of other DMUs to East Midlands Trains whose fleet requirements increase with the new timetable. Ironically West Midlands' timetable changes were, I think, caught up in the "no timetable changes" embargo imposed by Mr Failing of Epsom. TfL are supposed to "negotiating" with WMT to get a further extension to the 172s' sub lease but I can't see that happening as ultimately the DfT sits behind all of this and they would need to agree to a downwards variation of East Midlands' franchise to delay the rolling stock cascade. I can't see the DfT being very willing to do this as it could have happened weeks ago *if* there was any goodwill to dig TfL out of the hole they're in. Something tells me that "goodwill to TfL" is in short supply at the DfT despite the looming festive season.

I'd hardly say the District and Picc "closures" are significant. One is no Olympia service, and the other is nothing between Uxbridge & Rayners [use Met instead].

Slightly on topic - but Next Friday will be the last day of the chiltern parliamentary service into London Paddington, this in conjunction with HS2 works and the winter timetable commencing; For those unaware the train departs South Ruislip at 10:57, every weekday and terminates at London Paddington before performing the 11:35 to High Wycombe, I did the 10:57 on Monday and their was 7 people aboard. I might try and do the whole circuit tomorrow as I can't next week as i've got 717 brake handling.

It'll be terminating at West Ealing in the bay platform, so will be routed via Castle bar park.
