Best routes 190: Last route in London that is allocated evolutions 84: Non-TfL route but very scenic 313: Beautiful view along ridgeway 383: Route branding done right 184: All round interesting route 465: Scenic and goes way outside London 331: Also goes way outside London 102: Long and reliable route
Bit of both
298: Incredibly unreliable but is very much an anything goes route so loads of variety.
Worst
232: Gets stuck in traffic and is always completely rammed 221: Always busy 13: 5 buses show up at once 217: Boring route

Not as scenic as some but I'm largely a fan of routes that go outside the boundary

After travelling on the 350 and U5 today I think the 350 is one of the best, can get quite scenic between West Drayton and Hayes and is a lot quicker than the U5. The U5 on the other hand is carnage. Too many turns, much slower than the U4, 350, 222 or U1 for getting to places on the U5 route. Going towards Uxbridge is especially bad with the double run on the A408 meaning that we almost got as far as the M4 before turning back for the Mulberry Parade section, double run at Stockley Park west unlike the 350 which goes straight through, now that Station Approach in West Drayton is open again, the double run really slows down the journey, the driver today took 5 minutes just to go round the double run! Then when you finally get to Uxbridge it's 50 minutes since you left Hayes!

The 121 has this nice section in Enfield Wash where it can get a good kickdown depending on the bus. Wish I been on that section when the DLA's were around that would've been bliss.

Have got the chance to try out more routes (esp. central London ones) over the past few weeks. Here are the routes I enjoy: 22 - one of the better central London routes in my opinion, good to be able to see some posh areas 134 - another good route linking the central London with some interesting areas in North London
Mixed feeling: 87 - I like the Millbank section which feels like a short "escape" from the congested Central traffic, but the route itself is quite long and is easily cocked up at Wandsworth/Battersea
Less appealing to me: 29 - have to agree with many here, a slow and always packed route, not that enjoyable to ride on. The early HVs are also looking quite tatty.

The Millbank to Aldwych section is what causes many of the issue along with sometimes heavy traffic on Lavender Hill at the Clapham Junction end but overall, it's not too bad a route congestion wise.

With the 87 the section between Vauxhall and Clapham Junction can be quite dull in terms of scenery. I tend to find that in terms of places in central London, anywhere east of say Euston/Holborn/Aldwych doesn't appeal to me, much prefer the West End to the City

I meant to say the A3036 section..I took my car to a garage at Battersea Business Park and so walked up there and took the 87 between Central London and there when I was waiting to pick up my car. The traffic was bad throughout that day - but it's a rainy Friday so it maybe the reason.

I agree the West End routes tend to have better scenery, esp. as an East Ender myself I don't find many of the routes in my local/nearby areas appealing! lol

I really like the 249 and 417, the 417 is incredibly quick and enjoyable, and I love how it avoids most of the main Streatham roads. The 249 is also really nice going through Balham and Tooting and Streatham Common, and both of them are very hilly approaching Crystal Palace.

They are both good routes, but the 249 was so much better when it had plaxton presidents, and the 417 was much better with alx400's
