Despite a multi-million pound rebuild there seem to be quite a lot of issues with the new bus station. No working PA, lack of no smoking signs, no information for drivers indicating where to park, lack of timetables and only one working next bus screen. According to one very helpful worker TfL refused to authorise countdown displays for each roadside bus stop despite the previous bus station having them. Very minor issues but they all add up to a bus station that needs a bit of work done to it. Was at West Croydon Bus Station today, they still blaming the non-functioning destination screen on the cyber-attack!

The lack of countdown displays, particularly on routes such as the 481 with 30 minute frequencies is very poor. I also think there should have been investment in a public loo rather than just the driver/staff dedicated facilities. I nearly asked before, but didn't as I probably missed it on the forum but I'll ask now: "What then was the rationale / business case for the rebuild?"

The bloke said the staff begged TfL and the designers to include countdown screens but they all refused. He did say they are planning to spray paint route numbers on the concrete blocks so drivers know where to park.

Vauxhall is particularly infuriating. If they want people to use a network that requires changing buses, the least that could be done is provide countdowns at each bay...

The departure bays for terminating buses don’t necessarily need them, I was referring to the roadside through stops, these definitely need them. Particularly for routes like the 213/SL7 or 57/131, it could be the difference between a 30 minute journey or an hour journey depending on where you are going.
