Not quite the same as the other excellent examples listed here, but Route 493 towards 'Tooting, St George's Hospital' stops outside the hospital before then continuing past it (including past a lengthy bus stand for other routes), going on to serve more stops past Tooting Broadway Station, and then almost completing a full loop to reach its last stop and stand on the hospital grounds. Still, unlike the other examples mentioned, the 493's destination blind is at least accurate for its terminus; despite the fact that it continues to run past its stated destination, it does eventually come back to it! Incidentally, heading back in the other direction, the 493's routing is even more unusual. From its first stop adjacent to the stand, it completes almost two full loops - one serving stops within the hospital grounds; and another around the outside of the hospital and through Tooting - eventually passing the hospital again (!!), before heading on towards Richmond. is there a route that serves stops with the same name as much as the 493? it stops at 5 stops called St Georges hospital.

The 2's advertised destination is West Norwood despite West Norwood station being the penultimate stop with the final stop being Norwood Bus Garage I would say any route where the destination is Vague. It doesn’t state West Norwood Station. It just states 2 to West Norwood. So I wouldn’t say the 2, 68 or 315 meet this Criteria because West Norwood is vague. A Candidate for this is 249 & 432 which actually terminate 1 Stop after Anerley Station. All Routes terminating in Thamesmead once you reach Boilier House you are already in Thamesmead. The 472 most definitely because it goes past tha actual Terminus before going on it loop via Bentham Road & Crossway. Yes you can get on at Anerley Station and get off at the alighting point opposite the bus stand.

The other end of the 493 can catch people out too, even though it's nowhere near as convoluted as Tooting. In the days when TfL had banned qualifiers altogether, buses would run through Richmond, then head out to Manor Circus while still displaying "Richmond". I was once waiting at Manor Circus for a bus to Richmond when a 493 sped past displaying "Richmond". Cue lots of angry hand-waving from people at the bus stop. It had actually finished at Manor Circus and was running empty to Twickenham (NCP base). But try explaining to people that a bus heading towards Richmond and blinded for Richmond isn't actually going to Richmond...
Elsewhere the 42 and 344 run two stops beyond Liverpool Street, despite what it says on the blinds.

is there a route that serves stops with the same name as much as the 493? it stops at 5 stops called St Georges hospital. The 493 actually serves six stops with that name, as does the G1; St George's Hospital St. George's Hospital/University of London St George's Hospital/ Lanesborough Wing St. George's Hospital/Main Entrance St. George's Hospital/St. James' Wing St George's Hospital/ Knightsbridge Wing

The G1 as it goes has six of them on route; St George's Hospital St. George's Hospital/University of London St George's Hospital/ Lanesborough Wing (not done by the 493) St. George's Hospital/Main Entrance St. George's Hospital/St. James' Wing St George's Hospital/ Knightsbridge Wing The 493 does go past St George's Hospital/ Lanesbourgh Wing. Now corrected

Technically buses that terminate at West Mid Hospital actually go past thei destination. They terminate at the mental hospital one stop along although it does share the same grounds.

The 108 in Lewisham is an odd one. The buses are blinded for "Lewisham Shopping Centre"
The 108 serves the Clock Tower (which is technically a stone's throw from the shopping centre) then goes on to terminate at Lewisham Station. It runs dead to stand outside Lewisham Shopping Centre, then runs dead to pick up on Lewisham High Street. It neither picks up nor sets down at Lewisham Shopping Centre.
Although the 108 terminates at Lewisham Station, you'll have a job finding out where to pick it up again and directions are quite difficult to follow if you're not familiar with the area. People regularly flag down terminating 108s there!

Was easy because used to terminate at the old bus station when I drove it. quote author=" 6HP502C" source="/post/488231/thread" timestamp="1553203063"]The 108 in Lewisham is an odd one. While I know the road layout does no one any favours in Lewisham I do think it is ludicrous that it sets down at the station but does not pick up there. When it did so in the past it was a popular stop for the route - I've caught it there many times. Since the road changes at Lewisham I think I've visited twice and not bothered with the 108 at all.

Furthermore, the blind display for the other terminus should be "Stratford International Bus Station", a contractual requirement that is not adhered to either AFAIK. Interesting stuff.

Yes. I am very fond of the 108 and use it almost every evening to reach Lewisham. However I have never picked it up in the morning because it's too much of a mission to get to the stop. If I ever have to go to the North Greenwich office it's the DLR to Heron Quays then Jubilee Line!

It would be difficult if not impossible for the 108 to serve a common stop with the 89 at Lewisham Station and still go round the block to serve the High Street.

Its like an unspoken agreement that if you need to go to the hospital on 493, just get off at Lambeth Cemetery and walk up Fountain Road
