According to the map on the Traveline South East website, after passing through the Medway Tunnel the M2 goes via Frindsbury Hill, Frindsbury Road, North Street, Strood Town Centre, London Road and Watling Street then via the A2. The maps on Traveline can't always be relied on, especially for limited stop services, as it just takes the route on the most direct route between the registered stops. It is highly unlikely that the M2 will go through Strood town centre as the traffic can be intolerable, and there are no stops there anyway. It will probably head along the A289 by-pass to reach the motorway. Interestingly it also stops just outside Faversham, at a stop just off the M2, similar to the Lewknor stop on the Oxford Tube. If the service is successful, I wonder if that stop will also become an unofficial 'park and ride' on the side of a country road. The map on the Stagecoach website shows tha A289 route around Strood

Every couple of months, The Medway Tunnel gets closed from 2000 for maintenance for a week, there's going to be a bit of a diversion through Rochester to Chatham Maritime every once in a while. The quickest was will still be down A289, then A228 Frindsbury Hill & Road, Station Road Strood, then left over Rochester Bridge down old A2 to Chatham. Though I suppose you could come off the A2 and go through Strood that way, but Strood Town Centre has weekend and night time closures too for the foreseeable.

A couple of things to confirm about this. It's only a registered route until Chatham Dockside. After that, we can go any which way we like to get to the o2.
It all kicks off this Sunday, but on a restricted service, running only from Hemptstead Valley to North Greenwich and back due to the M2 closure. Full service will start from Monday.

I was wondering if anything other than a coach would appear on that route! Wasn't expecting it quite so soon. Hopefully someone managed to snap it, as I doubt that will happen again anytime soon. They chose the right kind of bus to replace a coach though - those Scania MMCs have really comfy high-backed coach style seats, with USB sockets, and should have wifi. I doubt using one of the Tridents would have gone down well! For those unaware, the website bustimes.org has a live fleetlist for some operators, including Stagecoach South East. Looking on it, you can see 15261 has worked the M2! See here: bustimes.org/operators/stagecoach-in-east-kent/vehicles

Yes, if you look around a few Facebook groups, south England/Stagecoach oriented, it's been snapped

15261 appeared again on the M2 yesterday. It was snapped, and the snapper tagged StagecoachSE on a Tweet. Have a look through the StagecoachSE Twitter feed and you can see it. This time it actually has an M2 destination display, whereas last time I don't think it did.
Also, 15261 is actually on it now as I type! Working the 15.05 from North Greenwich, so if it isn't replaced, it shall be arriving again at North Greenwich at 19.57 (to form the 20.10 back to Canterbury.

I saw this going through Sidcup a few weeks ago presumably heading towards the A20/M20 as there was problems on the A2 at the time.

Sadly this service is being withdrawn on May 22nd, it has just not attracted enough custom to make it viable.

Sadly this service is being withdrawn on May 22nd, it has just not attracted enough custom to make it viable. Such a shame. I regularly see people queuing at North Greenwich, but obviously not enough. I’m surprised they went for all out withdrawal rather than reducing the timetable.
