The Southern Perimeter Road in Heathrow will now have a variable speed limit. It will remain a 40 but this will change to 20 if there is congestion. I suspect there eventually the speed will change to a 30 permanently. This effects 482 and 490.

Wait till your local routes get the speed assistance technology fitted where they'll be forced to stick to 20mph on those roads - currently seems to be just fitted to a large number of B5LH's That speed assistance thing isn't gonna work. Drivers will cause a fuss including myself. I can easily 'imagine' management not being too keen on it either. I wonder if over time they'll be switched off as I understand they can often fault when the speed limit changes along roads.

Probably have the old higher speed limits for months (or years) as that was correct when maps compiled. My car has a sat nav and some road changes happened at least 4 years before car was new, so these maps often out of date, and dealer didn't update it when car went for service, although I could download an update as instructions available on forums. Are TfL going to do updates ?

That sounds like a terrible speed limit and I don't see how that can be enforced in practice although I guess it could reduce the chance of accidents occuring. A permanent 30mph speed limit is probably a better idea as you say, and even better the 482's Smarts will probably be equipped with ISA meaning no bus thrashes on the Southern Perimeter yay!!!! I love ISA so much!!!! NOT.
