So here we go, a full report about the proposed changes TfL have for bus routes in Harrow. These affect the 186, 223, H9/10 & H14 consultations.tfl.gov.uk/buses/bus-changes-harrow/In summary, the plans are as follows: - Withdraw route 186 between Harrow Bus Station and Northwick Park Hospital. Route 186 would terminate at Harrow Bus Station. - Extend route H14 from Northwick Park Hospital’s main entrance to terminate at St Mark’s Hospital, following the existing alignment of route 186. This would give an increased frequency of buses servicing St Mark’s with a bus every 9 to 10 minutes compared to every 12 minutes now . - Move the terminus of circular routes H9/H10 from Harrow Bus Station to Northwick Park Hospital. This would give a more direct bus link between the South Harrow area and Northwick Park Hospital . - Withdraw bus routes H9/H10 from Northwick Avenue and Rushout Avenue, in both directions, and instead operate a more direct service along Kenton Road between Kenton station and Northwick Park roundabout. There is also a note about the 223's proposed cutback to Northwick Park Hospital which is down below: "We previously consulted on the withdrawal of route 223 between Northwick Park Hospital and Harrow bus station. Following the consultation feedback and a recent review of buses between Harrow and Northwick Park Hospital, we are no longer proposing this. Route 223 will continue to terminate at Harrow Bus Station."

I'm guessing now the X140 will be able to fit in the bus station now.

No mention of possible changes to routes 258/395 through Harrow-on-the-Hill

Well those proposals are far more sensible and less far reaching than I expected. The retention of the 223 to Harrow is a pleasant bonus.

Good news regarding Northwick Park Station, that one junction was enough to completely f**k the route up (more so with the H9).

My crystal ball was correct. Good news regarding Northwick Park Station, that one junction was enough to completely f**k the route up (more so with the H9). Which junction? Traffic congestion problems? Emerging onto Kenton Road from Northwick Avenue can take a long time waiting for a safe gap, barely anyone gives way and simply have to hope someone wants to use the pedestrian crossing to halt traffic. Then you have the unpredictable evening peak time loadings outside the station which is mainly people going 1-2 stops (walking to Kenton road would be much quicker) so alot of the time the bus is overloaded and can't take anymore passengers once it gets into Kenton station.

So the buses are full leaving Northwick Park Station in the evening peak towards Wealdstone? Would that be less likely to happen if the bus starts and terminates as is proposed from Northwick Park Hospital rather than Harrow Bus Station? The through passengers from the town centre towards Kenton would presumably then be displaced to other routes.

Great, smart proposals - makes the 186, H9 and H10 a tad more reliable (keeps the H18 and H19 stopping outside the station) and best of all, cancels out the 223 cut.

Won't happen at all as the routes being pulled out of that section in the same proposal (or planned to) although I suspect they will go through with it.

Good to see the 223 is going to continue serving Harrow, another TfL u-turn. This essentially looks to be TfL adressing stand space issues at Harrow by extending the H9/H10 on to Northwick Park to allow the 186 and potentially the X140 to stand at the Bus Station. This is actually a good set of changes with improvements being made to the network in Harrow, the cost of the enhacments to the H9/H10 is the 186 but there are numerous other buses between Harrow and Northwick Park as it is. The downside is that some linkage to Northwick Park is lost through the 186 cut but overall I don't think that many passengers will be affected, 186's empty out at Harrow. I was expecting the review of bus services in Harrow to be a far more negative one but no routes are being removed from the bus station which is certainly a good thing

One downside is that passengers along Christchurch Ave will lose their direct service to Harrow town centre and require a change of bus either at Wealdstone or Kenton (unless they want to go the long way round)

That’s a interesting consultation. 🤔 I’ll give my thoughts later.

Interesting two bus routes from Brent Cross via different places to Harrow. I know many will miss a direct link but I think it’s needed.
I am surprised other routes had not been included ie 340,182,183 plus others.
