Doesn't Surrey County Council give money towards the funding of TFL bus routes that run from Kingston, Sutton, Croydon etc into their territory? I'm sure I've read that somewhere, I assumed that was why there are so many London buses that run across that border still.

In the cold light of day it's difficult to justify three routes between Dartford and Bluewater. But the 428 is also up for the chop so simply cut that back to Dartford and leave the 492 as it is - so much for TfL improving outer London services. Overall if the 492 going to Bluewater was to stay I would cut the 492 to Crayford and convert in to Single Deckers. The 428 re-routed via the 492 to Bluewater and converted to Double deckers. The 96 now provides a frequent service to Darent Valley Hospital. The 96 will get slaughtered without any sort of increase, plus Stagecoach cannot run the route to save their lives one of the worst services in the Bexley area... The 428 being a 15 minute service would be useful even if its cheaper than the 480. Bare in mind Lakeside has the 370 & 372. At least two double decker services would be useful.

I don't think Surrey help with the 406/418/S1. They do for the 166 between Banstead and Epsom I believe aswell as the 465 and possibly the 467??. The 420 doesn't have any TFL funding.

If you cut the Sidcup to Crayford section of the 492 then North Cray loses it's only bus service.. as does the section between Bexleyheath and Crayford that it serves. You would have to replace it with a new B10 or B17 service or something.

I do wonder if this process has been halted because a political solution may be in the offing - something from KCC, perhaps, even if it's only to keep the 492 going.
The all-stops 492 does seem an anomaly when it follows the Arrival 480 so closely, although it has done this for 20 years now.

The 492 will continue to Dartford anyways. I'd imagine the opposition is to the 428 cut.

No idea where you got Sidcup to North Cray from when the thread title and the consultation has all the information.

Yeah, had them mixed up in my head - was thinking if KCC could do something with the not-very-frequent Go-Coach Dart 1, which runs around the backstreets at that end of Dartford (just turning short of TfL territory).

That's not a bad idea. The 428 which is going DD anyway can continue to Dartford with the DDs coming in handy for the school traffic and the 492 can go SD. That would also leave 3 bph plus the 96 between Crayford and Dartford as opposed to the 2bph plus the 96 proposed on the 96 and 492.

The 492 carries fresh air between Sidcup & Crayford so would suit Single Deckers. The last 492 could even run with a Transit van.

Thus North Cray is left without a bus route.
