No it was north of the river, around the area where the 88, 507 and C10 converge. I think that was the site of the former Westminster Hospital, which was absorbed into the Chelsea & Westminster Hospital, but some services remained on the old site (possibly nurses' accommodation).
There are a few pics of the H1 here including a Red Arrow GLS. The service was later operated by Limebourne, and continued to be operated by them after their main bus operation had been sold to Connex. Confusingly there were two H1s in operation at that time, as the TfL H1 (at Hampstead Garden Suburb) was still running. I think the hospital route was later renumbered HC1, at least internally.
I never realised/remembered on the route having so many variation of buses throughout its time. I actually drove the H1[1] a few times but was with DRL88 and DRL92 which had the hospital logo on the side in place of (or over) the Streetline logo, the buses hardly ever used on the 211 or 295 with the other DRL53-95 batch Darts. There are probably a few routes in hilly parts of London that could be applied to!  |
