Curious to know how many bus routes never saw RM/RML vehicles but went straight from RT to front entrance vehicles. I know of only two, because I lived in the area at the time (Southall), the 120 and 232/232A both operating from the original Southall garage opened in 1925 as Hanwell Garage becoming Southall Garage in 1950 and then closing completely in 1986. 80, 280 didn't see them going over in the 1969 and 1974 to OPO respectively. Also I don't think the 89 did either.

From memory the following routes went straight from RT family operation to one person operation: # denotes numbers that bear no resemblance to the today's number or have been withdrawn $ denotes numbers that appeared on RM blinds, but were never recorded as having operated
20, 20A#, 39$, 39A$#. 42, 44, 50, 57, 61, 66A#, 70, 79$, 79A$#, 80, 80A#, 84, 92$, 96, 98$, 103, 107, 107A#, 108, 108B#, 112, 114, 120, 121, 125$, 125A$#, 126, 132, 138, 142$, 145, 152, 154, 157, 160, 160A#, 166, 167, 170, 189#, 194, 195, 200, 203, 204, 209#, 211#, 222, 223#, 224#, 231, 232#, 242#, 246#, 247, 247A#, 252, 273#, 274#, 277$, 280, 289, 292, 294, 297.

Hope that helps Ted B Good list, good memory too! Think the 189 needs a # though! I can, off the top of my head, think of two or three more, but I'd better just check first. Of course, if you exclude weekend RM operation quite a few more could be included too. By the way, a nice cover photo on a book in my possession has a fully-blinded RM on the 277, but the caption reveals the location to be the Putney Common terminus of the 22, also worked by CT, and the conductor, one Jim Blake, took the specially-posed photo and confirms that, indeed, no RM ever worked the 277 in reality.

The 234 (the Croydon one) went from RT operation to XA (with odd appearances by FRM1).

False memory syndrome was going to lead me to say 90 and 148, but I see they both had weekend RM operation: on the other hand, I was a bit surprised to see the 157 never had weekend RMs, meaning that Anerley Hill never saw an RM in service.

Just realised that the 150 should really be included in the list: it went from RT to DMS operation in 1977, though had used RMs at weekends from 1976. Weekend operation by this time cut out the Becontree Heath to Ilford section of route, plus the isolated journeys from Chigwell Row to Lambourne End, so the latter place never officially saw an RM. However, on the last day of crew operation (a Friday) the entire allocation was RM in order to facilitate the transferal of all RTs from Seven Kings Garage, and a picture by Jim Blake of an RM at Lambourne End appears in a new book.
