So the 25 lost the top spot. Understandable with a proportion of passengers transferring to the 425 and 8 on the central section.

Likely the 140 will come off the list when it gets cut from Heathrow

The 109 is now just roughly 100,000 odd behind the 53 ready to pounce next year for the title of South London’s busiest route

My beloved local 207 has fallen once more (I believe it was 6th last year). I imagine it’ll climb up again once the 427is cutback, but maybe only one place as the 207 will be carnage post 427 cut. Now for the big headline story, the 25 looses top spot. It was near inevitable the 25 would lost patronage but I can’t say I was anticipating it loosing the top spot this year. Even though it doesn’t go anywhere near me, I do feel an iota of pride that West London route the 18 has taken top spot, it’s a route I really enjoy using.

Amazing that the top 10 don't include any of Croydon routes that are getting increases.
No surprises with the decreases except the 24. The 23 and 25 are understandable as they have been cut.
Despite previously increase after increase on each tender the 63 has dropped 15%. I do think the current freq plus the 363 is excessive most the week, particularly at weekends. Its not unusual to see empty 63s at Elephant from Kings Cross and for them to end up in a convoy with a 363 carrying little aswell.

Given its cutback to City Thameslink and frequency reductions, the 25 was bound to lose its top spot. This has been very largely offset by the 93% increase in the 425's loadings.

A few other increases are quite interesting, 521, 4, 87 and 381 are all Central London routes and have seen hikes. I wonder what has caused these as I can't recall any major changes on these routes or along parallel routes before April. I wonder what on earth caused that huge fall on the 228 and 224. The 24 seems to be a route that's digging its own grave, the mentality that it's an untouchable route is eventually going to kill it. It's affected by so much traffic and demos that it's a pain to use and something needs to be done about it. The 63 is an interesting one, I wonder if the 363 is taking away a lot of custom from it. The 23 and 277 are both self explanatory.

Unsurprisingly, three of thr routes to have lost patronage have all fallen victim to cutbacks, being the 23, 25, and 277. The 4 is a really interesting one. Its patronage has gone up, yet the rerouting was only recent so this doesn't tell the fully story. In retrospect seeing the 4 hacked back when its patronage increased seems daft.

I think the most interesting increase is the 201 - nothing particularly special has happened to it for a while now so wonder where the increase has come from. It’s been a busy route for as long as I’ve used it back in it’s early days with Mitcham Belle as a Tulse Hill to Mitcham route and has remained busy ever since.

To me, the 4 is the most interesting of those because ? (cutback of 277?) and what will be the effect of its rerouting/truncation, I wonder. On another thread somebody mentioned a new 456, and I'm wondering whether this could be something in the general area operated by the 4 and 56? If Crossrail ever opens, I don't doubt Farringdon will become mightily popular, and not just for rail interchange.

Been think what has caused a sudden increase on the 330 - all I could think was the Goblin closure, maybe passengers travelling from Wanstead Park Station towards Forest Gate.....

Been think what has caused a sudden increase on the 330 - all I could think was the Goblin closure, maybe passengers travelling from Wanstead Park Station towards Forest Gate..... TfL got £1.50 out of the people who potentially didn't know the distance between the two stations, when they could've walked about a minute down the road, and beaten the bus in some cases.
