Estimated most used routes in my lifetime (* denotes ongoing ridership each month) 1. 92 2. 207/427/607 3. 83/282 4. E1/E2/E9 5. 182/140 6. 469* 7. 96/99/177/180/422* 8. 341 9. 59 10. 3/12/159 Night routes: 1. N207 2. N1 Did you like using the N207? It's a route I find very useful. That route got me home safely from many nights out in central London and Ealing on many occasions! Buses towards central were usually quite empty, but it was always full towards West London even at a frequency of every 10 minutes. It wasn’t uncommon for buses to leave passengers behind between Oxford Street and Shepherds Bush and there was always a lot of banter on the journey back from central. Bunching was common due to buses sitting at stops for ages filling up with people pouring out of clubs and bars between 1am and 4am. I haven’t used the N207 for many years though (about 10!). If I lived in West London now, I would probably take the night tube from Central London to Ealing Broadway and continue my journey using the N83 or N207. Is the N207 still a very busy route?

Since moving to Blackhorse Road, living less than a 5 min walk from the station, I use buses extremely rarely. The Overground and Victoria Line take me to where I need to be very quickly. For now it’s probably the 158 and N73.

I adore the N207 and wish that it had a day equivalent, a route following the N207 between Acton and Notting Hill Gate would be useful. Unfortunately, the N207 isn't nearly as well used as it was with the night Central Line taking away a lot of its patronage which is a shame. One thing I do miss about the 207 at Metroline was the mix of vehicles you'd get at night, including the 55-reg VWs, 10 and 12 reg VWs (although these wouldn't stay out for long going back to G), TEs, and VWHs. However, I'm enjoying the route at Abellio.

My top 15 most used bus routes: 1. E3 2. 207/427 - I often just get which one comes, and use the two about as often as each other 3. 94 4. 607 5. E2 6. 148 7. 65 8. 9 9. 98 10. 18 11. E8 12. 211 13. 23 14. 38 - Although I just wait for the first bus to get from Holborn to Piccadilly, its nearly always the 38 15. 14
Like george the 27 misses out on my list because I've avoided it since its LT conversion, instead turning to the 18 For lifetime use I'd go for: 1. E3 2. 65 3. 207/427 4. E2 5. 94 6. E8 7. 607 8. 9

If you'd lived in 1930s London you could have made that journey easily on a 17 bus, which plied between Southall, Brent Road and London Bridge, with a peak allocation of 82 buses! By the 1960s it was gone without trace, except for its nighttime iteration the 289 (later N89) which had the exact same termini. The 207A continued the carry-over from Shepherds Bush, but only via the 49 as far as South Kensington and Chelsea (Stanley Arms), and wasn't terribly frequent either.

Since recording my bus travel, starting Summer 2016, I would say it's been representative of 20 years' lifetime usage. Note, been at university since 2016, so it's pretty low as far as three years are concerned....
No / Route number / Times usedx / Reason
Most used typical routes:
1 / 275 / x116 / Local route 2 / 69+97 / x64 / Family in Leyton and getting about Stratford - Walthamstow for shopping or hair cuts 3 / 241+262+473 / x60 / Family in Plaistow 4 / 20 / x30 / When I've just missed a 275 from Stow, this often beats it to High Rd Woodford 5 / 128+150 / x26 / Getting to Ilford and beyond from Barkingside and vice-versa 6 / 521 / x19 / Used for short hops down High Holborn during peak hours Mon-Fri 7 / 58 / x18 / Family in Leyton - much preferred when VN37***s used to rock the route in 2016/17 to the DNs / ALXs on 69 / 97 8 / 158 / x17 / Same as 58 above, but also great for catching the last true trident allocation earlier this year
Most used routes for purpose of bus rides:
1. 34 / x5 / Great for getting to N / NW from Walthamstow 2. 474 / x5 / Used to get from East Ham / Barking to Woolwich Arsenal during a trip, by catching this to KGV station 3. 115 / x4 / Speedy way into Central London on an early Sunday morning ride from Plaistow 4. 227 / x4 / Citaro.... four times... just cannot beat it

1) 135/D7 (my local routes) 2) 277/D8 (routes in my area but need some walk so used less often) 3) 129/180 (routes I take when going shopping) 4) 15 (take this back home from Central London and change onto a 135 at Aldgate, if I want to avoid tube)

For enthusiast purposes, these would also enter my list as most used:
Many of the double deck routes that run into the borough of Bexley between 2004-2009ish The 107 & 292 - the 107 over a longer period of time including when DLD operated, 292 under it's VLP period The 227 under it's SPD period and a little bit under it's recent Citaro period The 83 under it's VNZ period Many routes in the borough of Croydon between 2005-2010
The following are a mix of enthusiast reasons and getting to/from school at the same time back between 2000-2005:
The 68, 249, 315, 322 & 417
And one I missed from my regular use most mused routes which is the 468 - I prefer this to the 109 & 250 when travelling to Croydon as I find it to be quicker

The 17 didn't get a whiff of Southall after October 1939 although continuing until 1958. The night service is a bit of a puzzle as the (night) 289 is shown as starting in November 1940 with a note confirming it was previously numbered 17 although the 17 offered more of a late night service than a night (overnight) service as there was nothing after 02:45

My most used routes were the 5/EL2/EL3 until I moved. Prior to moving I had probably used the 86 from Romford no more than a handful of times, now I use it every day. Not been on a 5 for 4 months now
