One can argue that 25 / 425 is pretty bleak throughout given there isn’t much to see

Routes that entirely operate within the boroughs of Havering, Barking & Dagenham, Hillingdon, Sutton or Bexley. You leave Bexley alone 😛 229 is a decent ride, 96 too. Will say that the B13 is a bit of an acquired taste though 😂 Personally, I can't think of a bad route in that sense that runs within Bexley - ditto Barking, Hillingdon & Sutton as well.

My reasoning for me is quite different - I quite like buses running through bleak, industrial landscapes like the 173 & EL2 for example which is why you won't see me sticking the 301 or 472 in here either
For me, anything running along roads just lined with shops or similar I find incredibly boring so:
The 109 goes in here - most scenic thing is passing Streatham Common or Rush Common, the latter of which is incredbily short and narrow. The 60 would of joined it but Streatham Vale & Coulsdon/Old Coulsdon saves it
By this, the 149, 279 & 349 all go in here as well and whilst I'm here, chuck in the 389 - only scenic or interesting bit being the climb to Barnet. There are more that follow these but I'd probably be here all day.

The 117 was about the most boring route I've ever been on. I did it a few years ago on a RL51 plate Dart which I was hoping would at least have a Euro 3 engine but not so alas. It's about as unremarkable as routes go - the 203 and 216 were much more interesting!

266 and 260 as well. As bleak as it gets. Couldn’t stay awake on the 1.5 hour trip on the 266 despite a large coffee and a can of diet coke..

The 86 does have a bit of scenery between Romford and Chadwell Heath, but otherwise is dreary all the way to Stratford, the 5 is dull the whole way, but my vote goes to the 115, East Ham-Aldgate, just one long straight line through choking traffic and fumes. The 132 in the Blackfen area is pretty dull too.

The 279 gets my vote - unrelenting dreariness from beginning to end and, although it terminates outside the London area, it does so at the most unpreposessing town in Hertfordshire (and in a county that contains Watford and Stevenage, that takes some doing). The only good thing is that you do get the occasional glimpses of the rural Middlesex that was there before suburbia swallowed it all up.

Route 72 is now pretty dull since it doesn't go over Hammersmith Bridge.

The N86 must be very high up the list.

I find the 217 down the great Cambridge road pretty darn boring. Most excitement is Edmonton cemetery.

I thought about the 224 but I like the Stonebridge Park and Park Royal area. I think RP has most if not all of London United's most gritty routes, so like them all for that.
So at present my vote goes to the 469.

There's really nothing interesting there, and I find the areas so boring. The 51 is a route I remember finding very dreary the whole way. Disclaimer: I do think there are some good routes which happen to go to Orpington, the R8 is a route I'd love to do. However, the area itself isn't particularly interesting imo.

I quite like the 287, it’s scenic in a different way. Rather bleak and a bit of a wasteland on the south side of New Road. It’s easily one if dreary Barking and Dagenham’s better routes.
Routes like the 62, 364 and 368 are just plain dull with almost nothing interesting to see. At least my arch-nemesis, the 58, passes through Green Street with its interesting shops.

The section between Upney and Becontree on the 62 is certainly memorable to put it nicely...

The 279 gets my vote. The route has no nice scenery, always gets caught in traffic along the route. Slow drivers and the 61-plates T's used are dreary and uncomfortable
