Has anyone discovered the seemingly hidden gem that is bustimes.org? Its best feature is the map showing buses from hundreds of different companies tracking across the UK. I've never seen anything quite as comprehensive as this before (its just a shame it wasnt around a few years ago when Olympians were still running in mainstream service).
A major gap is in London - TfL buses do not appear on this map (i'm not sure why - perhaps different systems are used compared to most UK operators). However, within London you can still see all the National Express coaches, the Oxford Tube, the Oxford Bus Co. X90, Greenline routes, Uno, Hallmark Connections (including Hotel Hoppa), Falcon Coaches bus routes, and the new Stagecoach Express M2.
On the outskirts of London, you can see Reading Buses, First Berkshire, Carousel, Uno, some of Arriva The Shires, First Essex, Stephensons/NIBS, Ensignbus, Go-Coach, Metrobus, hotel buses around Gatwick, and Stagecoach South.
A most recent addition just this week was Arriva's Harlow and Northfleet garages (but only some vehicles).
I like how the icons representing the buses has the livery of the bus too (useful if wanting to photograph special liveried buses), and when you click on the bus it gives you the fleetnumber, and more often than not the registration and vehicle type! The icons usually update their location every few minutes.
See for yourselves here - link
bustimes.org isn't just useful for the map. You can see timetables for all UK bus routes. When you click on the operator pages, it has a list of all their routes operated, it has a link to show all their upcoming and withdrawn registrations, and if they have tracking buses it has an unofficial fleetlist for the operator.
