The incident involved a Stagecoach Scania/ADL Enviro400 operating the Gold route, it was en-route between Paignton and Totnes on the A385 when the incident occurred. A major incident has been declared and the road will be closed for some time while the emergency services deal with the incident. It seems that at least everyone on board the bus has survived.

I have to admit I feared for the worst when I saw 4 air ambulances had been sent to the scene. In over thirty years living in the S.W. I've never heard of so many converging like that, probably every crewed air ambulance in the region. Also, an early person on the scene who was quoted as saying that, although they could possibly have physically moved some of the casualties they were afraid to. Now, eight people are seriously injured in hospital. The driver is being questioned by police, which suggests he didn't suffer a 'medical episode', but has not been arrested. Another Stagecoach d/d can be seen in photos abandoned very close to the phalanx of emergency vehicles, so must have been near at the time.
