11 . Never enjoyable . Always slow be it traffic or just tedious running time, 131. Another tedious route with the low humming Volvos which seem to help me sleep. 295. Always packed, but nice buses and well run. 395. Just a terrible route. You reach Northolt in either direction and have to endure another tour of narrow soulless roads. H20. Alright if you like Tesco’s and housing estates. H28. Alright if you like Tesco’s and the endless drab housing of Hounslow. 131 ...... a route that does not deserve a place in this thread ........ I thought the H20 was an interesting little route, it is mostly housing yes but I thought there was something intriguing about it. Helped I think by an incredibly and chatty driver I had on the route when I did it, he was telling me about its history and the buses that used to run on it. That's raison d' etre for H20.it reaches parts other routes dont. It's not a route for pleasure it's a route for necessity Tescos and housing estates. Not everyone has a car

Got a quite a few, but there is one route that stood out for me the most and for the wrong reasons, the 483. I used the route regularly a few months ago between Alperton and Harrow, and it was always a disappointing journey. Congestion made it tedious, drivers were always slow for some reason, and buses often dwelled at stops for a long time, only to result in more crowded buses. I avoided the 483 since.

Don't avoid any routes except for NBFL/LT operated routes. Mainly the 8, 12, 21, 55, 176 (part) and 453!

If there is an alternative conventional route I would most likely use that instead especially in summer months when the LTs get unbearably hot. For example if I was at Green park and wanted to go to Hammersmith I would take a short walk to Hyde Park Corner to pick up a 23 makes a nice journey than getting the 9 or Picadilly line. However if there is no easy alternative I would still use an LT route.

I tell you a story I was a mates at Clapton about 2am and all the N routes there are LT, there that much disliked by me I ordered an Uber to Manor House for the N279, didn't occur to walk to Hackney Baths for a N242!

345 - indirect compared to 37, poorly run, if there is bunching and you miss both (happened to me twice) there is a guaranteed long wait, using it at night is a nightmare. But its not as bad as the 196 imo. Elephant past 9pm is just the 196 being cancelled multiple times from my observations.

Disagree with most of what you say - 345 has by & large run fairly well over the years despite the numerous garage changes under Go-Ahead and Abellio seem to doing fine as well. As for the 196, Abellio initially struggled but after a while it settled and is generally doing well - I was a regular on the 9pm journey on Tuesday’s until recently for a long time including stretching across the last contract change and bar two occasions where the bus failed to turn, it turned up.

The 483 is useless to reach Harrow if you're anywhere south of Wembley on the route. From Alperton, you'd be better off using the 245 and changing at Sudbury & Harrow Road for the 182. When I want to go to Harrow (from Ealing) I use the 427/607 to The Grapes then get the 140 or X140 from there - previously I used the E3, 282, 140 but that involved relying on an infrequent route in the 282.

250 on the way home/Brixton/Croydon (nasty buses and patronage 😶), and I also don't touch the 270 and 157. Nothing nice about them. I have also begun to avoid 227 because of the WSs, although still get it if time is an important factor

I’m not talking about the loads themselves, but more the design of being able to fit as many people as possible in. They feel very pokey inside and it just feels like there’s not enough room for standing capacity. Something that’s important on the 227, and the 355 lol. Unlike MMC and especially Citaros lol.

I agree with this, the middle of the bus seems very narrow compared to an Enviro 200. Also important on the 39 a very busy route that often gets overlooked I think.

Not to mention that the Citaros were much nicer buses to ride on. I'll probably have to say that the 227 change was the worst one of 2019 personally, a huge downgrade in every aspect that I can think of
