They're fully gas-powered, not hybrids. Ah thanks! So would TfL approve? TfL don't approve of Gas buses, don't blame them either. Gas is not the way forward at all and is just as damaging to the environment as extracting oil can be.

I know this is a fantasy thread, but I feel that the Enviro 400 MMCs on the 69 would suit Stagecoach better. They can only go o the 69 at TT which is disappointing as they're fitted with WH blindsets, of course Stagecoach could go for WH if they were to win the 69 back. Those MMCs on the 69 have the most awful seating and most depressing dark interior not helped by the coach type seats. Was pointed out here I think by Eastlondoner62 they can now be used on the 262 and 473 too as these routes are on the WH blind sets but would need to be reprogrammed. Actually no they can't. Only a few 69 drivers are type trained to drive the DHs (And there's a rota for this), plus they are only allocated to specific bus workings on each day.

Ok I should have said "could" or "maybe" be used in the future. It was just a remark more about blinds and in a fantasy thread.

There’s some N280UD Gas Hybrids rocking about Nottingham. At least I think they’re hybrids, maybe they’re just fully gas and no diesel..... Weren't some ethanol powered Scanias trialled on the 148?

The lone ethanol-powered bus that was trialled on the 148 then went to Reading, who went on to order a batch of them (I think they were the only UK operator to do so). It didn't work out too well and the buses ended up being converted to conventional diesel power.

Apparently they do, although they haven't offered ethanol in the UK for many years now. It might make more sense in places like Brazil where ethanol is readily available from the sugar industry. In Europe I think they're more interested in promoting gas rather than ethanol, as far as alternative fuels go.
EDIT: Found this on the Scania site - it seems ethanol buses are still being produced for the European market as well.

Would VHs be able to get around the 49? I don't see why they wouldn't be able to, The SPs managed to get around.
