a demonstrator has done the 388 with Enviro 400EVs so it could be possible I imagine the 388 will retain its existing buses if retained by whoever takes over HCT. No need for new electrics at the moment the existing buses are in great condition. The 26 and 388 will *likely* (assuming changes proceed) get new buses in whole or part, it will require extra buses as the combined PVR post-changes is going to be 43 (48 overall inc spares) and there's only 38 E400Hs as it stands

The ex 277 PVR cut buses are still around and other changes might happen before the tender awards which releases more spare buses.

If Stagecoach/whoever has CT Plus retain both I'd not be surprised to see the buses from one route top up the other while one gets electrics.

Just new buses for the 493. Don't care which garage or what buses just anything to replace the SEs on that route.

Second this only because I can't stand old body Enviro 200's (the Euro VI ones get a pass only because they sound interesting but otherwise, not for me whilst the MAN ones are nippy buggers)

Can you provide a link to where the BBC supposedly said this? youtu.be/KS02BArjVzM here it says all buses will be electric by 2025 I am afraid you got the wrong end of the stick there. That BBC report was referring to councils bidding for government funding to become one of first all electric bus town with an attempt to do this by 2025 (as an model via DfT). While it used clips from London, it applies to all towns up and down the UK.
