However, everyone locally recognises the location as SP Police Station Still very misleading so I agree it should be Sidcup, High Street. Another example one if the time points on the 492 is referred to as Foots Cray Post Office. Never seen such a place ever... There was a Post Office in Foots Cray, but it closed down. It was next to the Sidcup Hill/Cray Road bus stop.

However, everyone locally recognises the location as SP Police Station I live a 30 second walk away from the thing. That's just not true. I got into all sorts of bother here on the forum over this junction some while back - I regard it (as do most of my contemporaries) as the police station junction. Would concede though that the name is dying and most people born after 1990 wouldnât agree with me.

The only thing I will add is destination descriptions generally do get replaced if a building ceases to exist - it happened in Brixton where the present Brixton, Morval Road blind was the replacement blind for Brixton, George Canning & Brixton, Hobgoblin blinds although I suppose LT/TfL got fed up of changing the blinds everytime the pub changed it's name - it's been know as Hootananny for many years now though.

Are the bus operators free agents about describing termini or do TfL have any say? As I understand it, TfL specify in the tender document what the blinds say. This would explain the lack of consistency if different people write the tender document

This would explain the lack of consistency if different people write the tender document As I understand it there is no longer a TfL database of terminal and turning points. Much needed but probably no staff to maintain it due to budget cuts.

It is the operator who buys the blinds/displays.

The hospital inconsistancy irritates me. For example it's 'Romford, Queen's Hospital' but not 'Locksbottom, Princess Royal Hospital'.

Something I'd like to see changed is the Ilford blind mess, though locals know that 'Ilford' terminating buses terminate at Hainault Street, I have seen quite a few people not local that ask 'Which bit of Ilford does this bus terminate at?' or similar remarks. I believe blinds for Ilford should be: Ilford, Hainault Street Ilford Broadway Ilford Station I'm not too keen on the Ilford Hill blind as buses blinded for that either terminate at Ilford Station (EL stand) or Ilford Broadway anyway. It's like the "Enfield" blinds on the 192 and 329

Please volunteer - someone needs to record these things, if TfL are not up to the task. It's not a question of being up to the task. Mayor Khans's budget cuts are deep and a lot of experienced people have left London Buses. Needs to be an employee or a contractor being paid to do it. There has to be liaison with internal departments, the operators and suppliers.

Queen Elizabeth Hospital (Plumstead Common) Queen Mary's Hospital (Sidcup) Especially when coming from Greenwich as the 286 goes to Queen Maryâs and the 386 goes Queen Elizabeth!! Used to get loads of confused people getting off my 286 because they hadnât read the blinds properly. (Even worse before the days of ibus) Last time I did the 492 there was a post office in Foots Cray but that was several years ago. And finally I think the 126 should be changes to Bromley High Street. Used to get a lot of peeed off commuters that didnât like having to walk down to the station because most people associate the term âBromley South/Northâ with the stations
