The 456 seems to be doing very well - props to whoever came up with the idea. Such a shame there are sour residents on the other hand, but let's hope they don't impact the service (I saw a petition to stop it, let's hope they give up and let people enjoy the service!) Residents have been campaigning for a better service to Crews Hill for years, it was even a Councillor pledge, so let's hope those with negative opinions don't trump the improved accessibility that the 456 provides.

Why would the residents object? Some are anti bus and just don't want buses anywhere near them, some think double deckers are used by criminals to scout out their home whilst some usually have concerns around parking and a bus managining to navigate around it. With the 456 in particular, it looks like a particular section Bincote Road might be an issue as it's a bit narrow and has parked cars on both sides - if that's correct, then I suggest residents don't park right opposite each other and stagger their vehicles as I saw on Google Streetview

But that means your twice as likely to meet a bus coming the other way now...

The route sort of had a good start, the busses are almost empty every time I see them though. I think it's because it's just a new route and usually takes time for the people to get used to it and know where it takes you. Reliability ia already being effected during peak times because of traffic congestion on Cambridge Roundabout and Silver Street. The WS's used are just from a scrapyard as the stopping bell is malfunctioned on 3 of the 5 busses. I don't understand why did they get rid of the W10 WS's from NP

A confirmation by TFL on the delays behind the 456 Route :
" The first delay was because funding was ‘paused’ when the pandemic struck which meant that all associated works had to come to a stop. Works restarted when funding was made available in October 2020 and most of the infrastructure works were completed on time, however the London Borough of Enfield needed more time to complete some of the bus stop works because they were more complicated than anticipated – hence the second delay of about a month. We were able to start operating the extended route on 13th March 2021."
" With regards the current state of the route 456, it is continuing to be operational. "

A FOI request on the reason of the W10 renumbering : "Route 456 was introduced in March 2021 in place of route W10. While the routeing of the 456 is the same as route W10 between Enfield Town and Crews Hill, it provides new links to key destinations such as North Middlesex Hospital and Winchmore Hill Station. It is also more frequent, has longer hours of operation and has a new Sunday service." "The new route was numbered 456 to distinguish the new service – with its higher frequency, longer hours of operation and new links - from its predecessor." tfl.gov.uk/corporate/transparency/freedom-of-information/foi-request-detail?referenceId=FOI-2259-2122

I don't see how that warrants a renumbering if I'm being honest I’m more staggered someone went to the trouble of requesting a FOI on this! Then they wonder why TfL has no money and cuts services. Wonder what the cost to TfL was handling all these mostly pointless FOIs in 2021
