Future papers point to another Golden Age of bus travel The bit about Arsenal winning the Champions League feels a little far fetched 🤣

Birmingham is going to trial being car free and I believe Oxford does it aswell. We have more then enough buses and tubes in central London to now say no to all cars.

I cannot see anything changing in London, it is the socialist, vegan, hipster, ecomentalist movement destroying the capital. It is no wonder the rest of the UK keeps on saying that London is in a bubble. The death of many high streets have been attributed to various anti-car movements that are further damaging to buses. Some people on here thinking banning car use etc would force people onto buses, these are the same delusional ways of thinking that the councils use and it has backfired. Instead they drive out of town instead or move away. The majority of problems in London in recent years are never ending amount of roadworks (even lasting for lengthy times), CPZ's, cycling warfare with fake replica Holland wannabe layouts, closing off of many side roads, removing left filter lanes at traffic lights to please cyclists. It is no wonder we have had more traffic. Car use has not increased that much in London, it is more or near the same. minicabs and delivery vehicles have increased drastically and it is down to all the factors mentioned above.
I can see things getting worse for buses in London, they do not realise the fundamentals, they seem to think it is all about being hybrid, or electric, or cheap fares; they are far from the tip of the iceberg imo.

I've grown sick and tired of traffic here. There's all these complaints of where "there's too much traffic because of these buses." I'll give an example. I took a 139 from Picadilly Circus to Golders Green on a Saturday Lunch time. No traffic, and I reached GG in below 45 minutes. I then did it a few days later it took 45 minutes to go from Waterloo Station to Selfridges. And the thing is, roads that get highly congested should have a full on ban of cars, such as Oxford Street and I'd suggest a few others. There is a cheap transport system out here that is useful and people just honk on the busy streets hoping they could get off and I think that there should just be a full on ban of cars along very highly congested roads. Or we pull an Amsterdam, ban cars across the entirety of Central London and make it bus and cycle only and buses may not be known as being slogs. If we focused more on what's stopping us from doing the changes and actually attempting to fix issues that are just turning people away from the negative issues with taking public transport before throwing in a Bakerloo line extension, we might actually get somewhere. So much effort has been going into brexit with protest after protest and despite a remainer myself the issue is taking up too much time and although I'm all for protests as it's really the only way we've got things, Brexit had taken our minds off exactly what is a bigger issue that isn't involving the economy and our country's status, but more for the people . What would that solve? Then the roads surrounding the ban gridlocked with traffic. It is the equivalent of squeezing a hose pipe then the pressure would come out of the end. It is the same effect of what would happen if Oxford Street were to be fully banned of buses. You say a cheap transport system, in London I would only say the buses are cheap. Even still the lack of choices etc with them, it would only encourage car driver to go to Uber. You say pull an Amsterdam, I do not remember when I was in Amsterdam a full ban of cars, that is just pure rubbish, sorry to sound rude but cannot stand wanting to bring everything to London. The same attitude was applied with the ill conceived mini Helland.
There is too much negativity around car use and in turn this then affects bus usage down to restricted roads creating more traffic. This is one of the reasons I am so much for BRexit, just fedup of this euro crap that has spurned London into this crap city.
