Had this journey on the 235 yesterday on the awful sounding DEL2250 and then on DEL2261.

You had a lucky experience on the 235! The days I go on the 235... well their crap. The 235 section between Sunbury and Feltham is already crowded enough and then even MORE passengers get on for the Feltham to Hounslow section. I don't mind the DELs on the 235 but the DEs! THEY'RE A DOWNGRADE! Most passengers often miss their stops as the crowds are so huge in the 235 an ideal place to stand is right at the front or the wheelchair bay. I wouldn't mind the 635 though as it is much quicker as not every single stop is being stopped at. Since the Feltham bridge has opened again ONE WAY traffic has improved slightly and I must admit it is a bit weird seeing the buses back to their original route after a year. Interestingly, the 90 still doesn't stand at Leisure West but instead stands at Springwest Academy which I feel is much better as the 90 can avoid all the Feltham traffic again on the way back to Northolt.

Unfortunately I probably will never travel on the 235 but the DEL sounds really bad like a clapped out VLA or Gemini 1

Even the old rattling Caetano Nimbuses (my entire childhood in a nutshell) and the Pointers were better than these MMCs. These are so terrible one failed on its first day in service!

Because one failed on it's first day does not mean they are terrible - it's not uncommon for new buses to have all sorts of teething troubles on their first days, weeks and even months.

Excluding LK66FTF which failed on the first day a few more did as well. Definitely agree with you in terms of the Caetanos and Pointers.

They are mainly terrible I think due to Metroline's maintenance. There is always fuel dripping down the sides of the bus, various dents and so much dirt and grime that could easily be cleaned with a wash. Near where I live I've seen at least 2 or 3 broken down, and that's only where I live

As for the fuel down the side of the buses, I’ve seen numerous examples from practically every operator in London with certain garages more notorious than others but rest assured, it’s not just a Metroline thing

Near where I live I've seen at least 2 or 3 broken down, and that's only where I live I thought Staines was near Bedfont before I saw the sides of Brentford's buses always lots of marks down the side from enthusiastic fuelling, and that includes crusty white marks from where the Adblue has dried and crystallized from over filling. A lot of their buses are getting on, the 2010 examples are tired. I think a lot of operators tire from all the constant changes, so quality drops. Especially as they know broke TfL can barely enforce refurbs, or repainting, so presentation has dropped off. But Joe Public isn't on the buses so much, so they don't really care
