A prediction for 2020 for me would be the withdrawal of route 68. It is duplicated the whole route, and a simple reroute of the 168 at Elephant & Castle to West Norwood and then there is no need of route 68. As for N68,I'd say it would become N468. Hampstead - Coulsdon WAY TOO LONG or maybe N168 Hampstead - Croydon and N468 - Coulsdon to TCR

A friend of mine who used to work at Camberwell said he could quite conceivably see the 12 being axed something that would have been unthinkable not so long ago but it's a shadow of the route it once was, it had a reduction last year but still has plenty of spare capacity and probably most significantly when it was temporarily curtailed at Whitehall because of roadworks the 159 and 453 coped ok. The 171 could be extended to Whitehall with a frequency increase and curtailed at Brockley Rise with the 172 going to Catford instead and the 63 could be rerouted to Dulwich Library.

Same here. The stand used by the 3 is still there and the 9 is an exact cover from Hyde Park Corner. It's quite sad because when the 6 change was made I initially had hope for the route, providing an alternative around this barrier that was Oxford Street. What it has since proved is that Oxford Street (and Regent Street for that matter) was not the barrier but was the destination and you won't be able to change that. You can always attempt to change people's route but you cannot change their destination. You are right. Some simply do not realise the number of people buses bring into the West End including Oxford Street and Regent Street. These people shop and spend their money helping the shops and the wider West End economy. Some people do, but want bus passengers to make a modal change away from buses or walk the last part.
You need to be very careful what you wish for, modal change can also mean a modal change in shopping, such as the internet when the West End loses altogether. Be very careful about messing around with the golden goose of bus passengers.

Yes, it would be too far when you factor in congestion through Walworth, Herne Hill & along Norwood Road between Tulse Hill & West Norwood - the 68 is fine as it is and provides much use.

First finally sells First Berkshire's operations to Reading Transport Ltd. (to operate under its Thames Valley Buses brand) and fully subcontracts the operation of RailAir to Reading Buses - the RailAir lounge at Reading Station will be staffed by Great Western Railway. A few more demand-responsive networks will appear. Greater Manchester will pull away from full franchising, operators will respond by showing increasing willingness to work in partnership (this will not include First who will exit Oldham during the year). My prediction here is that First will stop playing scrooge and will finally sell Oldham to Go-Ahead, merging with Go North West. I think GA will also buy out Halton Transport but that's another story.

Abellio London and Transdev Blazefield (including Rosso) will come under common ownership. I shall stop short of saying which company buys the other.

Editorial in the January issue of Buses magazine suggests that First are looking to divide their UK operations into four, and that Oldham will be joined up with Yorkshire. I couldn't call it either way. Interesting that you think Halton could cease to be under municipal ownership, although it's not the first time I have heard that it is struggling.

As you may know, Tower Transit owners Transit Systems was taken over by Sealink Travel Group of Australia in January. www.sealinktravelgroup.com.au/news-media/2020/sealink-completes-acquisition-of-transit-systems-group/This article refers to this acquisition providing Sealink with "an enhanced domestic footprint and scalable platform for significant international expansion with established businesses in Singapore and the United Kingdom". So, maybe they will want to expand here now? They could for example buy out HCT Group, who operate mainly tendered routes across their portfolio. They could even buy Abellio London, as Abellio have no other buses in the UK.

It may well be that if TT wish to expand in the UK it might be outside London.
