A thread to perhaps share favourite bus stand locations, past and present.
My favourites are the obscure back street curtailment points, where the bus disappears from the line of route.
Least favourite are the go round the roundabout ones.
So here are my favourites.
Whitton Church Twickenham Albany Ashford Common Hanworth Fir Road Hayes North Brook House Polye Colnbrook Crescent
And actual terminal points.
Tolworth Broadway Chessington World of Adventures South Harrow Stn Ruislip Stn Putney Heath Green Man Northolt Stn

My vote would go to both Westerham and Chartwell on the 246. Westerham might only be a car park but it seems very far away from London while Chartwell is easily the most picturesque bus stand I’ve ever used

Part of it doesn't exist anymore but the double stand at St. Matthews Church was always a fave especially as it was far busier back then what with buses able to access it from both directions. Nowadays, it can only be accessed if coming from Kennington.
Vassall Road stand still exists though very rarely is it used - used to be on the 109 blind set back in the day.

No routes no longer stand there and it's not its own dedicated stand but for me it has to be the Barnes Pond stand. I like how nice and calm it is despite being a stone throw away from the busy Hammersmith*. Really nice on a summers evening.
*obviously now a bit longer has you have to walk over Hammersmith Bridge.

Past (well, mine!) Eltham, Southend Crescent and Eltham, Well Hall Station Rochester Way, Well Hall Road on 108A short workings, with dedicated bus stop, outside comedian Frankie Howard's mother's house. Catford, St Dunstan's College so I could look out of the window and daydream of going home again on a 160 or 124!

As a driver I like Stratford City. Lots of facilities and choice of places to go for a meal. Only thing I didn't like was when there was a crowd of 200+ people waiting for my bus!

Wood Green, Buller Road Edmonton Green Golders Green Hackney Central Edgware Bus Station Brent Cross Ilford, Hainault Street Finsbury Park
All these stands have parking issues I must admit however they all have 24hour toilet facilities and good amouny of shops for food and/or to browse.

Bluewater - just for the sheer variety of operators that run services from there. Also the chap in the bus information centre is very helpful/knowledgeable with regard to routes and ticketing. Also a brilliant shopping centre too. Crushes Westfield 😉
