I'm in two minds about how I feel with the changes. Whilst understandable I wouldn't be surprised to see the 101 disappear in the future. Ever since it's removal from North Woolwich in 2005 the 101 has just been a supporting route for others. Even with the 474 being introduced in 1999 the 101 hasn't had a section to itself since that time. I hope I could be wrong but watch this space. The East Ham to Manor Park corridor is very busy this is why the 474 was extended to provide support to the 101 and 104. Speaking about the 104 does anyone know if the split is confirmed to still go ahead when the new line opens

Speaking about the 104 does anyone know if the split is confirmed to still go ahead when the new line opens Those changes are linked to the Elizabeth Line opening and as far as I remember the consultation was published but then got delayed because the line has not opened yet. As I said in my post the 241 changes are linked to the 474 changes in that proposal. If both sets of changes go ahead at the same time they will be the biggest changes in east London since the big 1993 ones.

I was single digits young those times 😂😂😂. The 473 being introduced i remembered very well.

Reading the feedback glad to see it wasn't just me that opposed cutting the 241 from Canning Town - The broken link from Freemasons Road really will impact people. It wouldn't be so bad if there was a easy interchange stop for people travelling towards Keir Hardie / Canning Town.

Extending the 325 to Royal Albert Dock, a tumbleweed commercial estate where nobody works, does look bonkers (but is thankfully linked to a requirement that a bus stand be built first, so may never happen).

These changed along with the Elizabeth Line ones are pretty poor IMO. Buses going places were they are not really needed and over busing places like East Ham from Custom House.

My knowledge of the area isn't top notch so correct me if I'm wrong but what is the point of extending the 241 now? The whole point of that was for the Elizabeth Line, which hasn't opened, and wouldn't the vast majority of Royal Wharf workers/travellers hop on the DLR or get on the unchanged 474 to much greater destination choice at Canning Town?

They're not extending it now. The implementation date is "unlikely to be prior to winter 2021/22".
Lots of people now live at Royal Wharf, and a bus service which cuts across the parallel DLR branches (and links with Crossrail) could be very useful.

There was two separate consultations one for the Elizabeth Line and the South Newham one. In the original Elizabeth Line one the 241 was going to terminate at Custom House Station but the South Newham one proposed a extension to Royal Wharf and this is now going ahead. The 474 replaces the 241 from Canning Town to Custom House station / Freemasons Road and will need to be changed at the same time. So two things can happen either the 241 change happens at a later date than the 101/262 changes or the South Newham and Elizabeth Line changes (104,300,304,330) happen at the same time.

Does the new GLA building in the Royals get an improved by service? No, the new GLA building is a lot closer to Canning Town and isn't even close to the 325s extension. The GLA building has the 474 now, and will soon have the 330 as a replacement. There's the DLR and if they desperately wanted it the Emirates Air-Line too.

Was in the Upton Park area today and noticed just how residential the roads are between Upton Park and East Ham (High Street South) that the 104 uses. Bus stops are really sparse and makes me think is it really wise having the 104 and 304 duplicate this section. I do worry about that myself, but I think it'll be most welcomed by the people down there considering how extremely crowded the 104 gets. I did wonder whether it might be worth sending the 304 to Beckton and around the 262 way but then realised the whole point is that the 304 serves Newham Hospital which is impossible without it going down Lonsdale Avenue. What I do however see is that the 104 is what gets the crowd heading west while the 304 is what gets the crowd heading East, as one way will be Stratford and the other way will be East Ham.

Added back! Sorry I did delete this as I realised I posted in the wrong thread by Eastlondoner62 has replied so added back and it is kind of related to the Newham changes

I noticed today they have created a new roundabout on Royal Albert Way (Above Cyprus station). I wonder could this potentially make it easier to implement future bus changes in the area? I remember sometime back there was talk of creating a bus slip road near here that would allow access to Cyprus.

yh, they were utilising that roundabout for a bus ramp for the route 101 extension to RAD, if applicable
