The Wrights buses use tried and tested fuel cells. They also built a prototype and converted another before administration. Wrights have delivered four buses to London according to LOTS. Judging by their website, ADL seem to have built one prototype. Caetano have done well with vehicles for Abellio. Competition is important and fuelling a bus in 10 minutes compared to 4/5 to charge an electric vehicle is a good starting point. There will continue to be a mix of buses in London. ADL have a whole batch on order for Liverpool, so whether they've only built one or not they'll soon have a fleet to back them up. They were supposed to be in service in 2020 - not a lot different to the Metroline vehicles.

So there will be both Electric and Hydrogen vehicles in TFL post 2030?
Impression I initially got was that it would be Electric only.

But why do you think that when Metroline is about to start taking delivery of Hydrogen buses for route 7. Its funny people talk about 2030 like its next year. 9 years is a long time for technology to develop and change.

The last I heard regarding the Hydrogen's for route 7 was that there was a problem with the fuel facilities. Isn't the 7 only receiving a part allocation? Yes indeed 9 years is a very long time away. I personally don't think Electric is the way forward. Hybrid was a much better solution imo. Too much can change in 9 years.

Electric can run out of power and it has happened on the 106 when passengers had to change buses. The driver explained that the bus was running out of power. As when it comes to Hybrid, it has part Diesel so that problem wouldn't happen in the first place.

Yes a temporary issue but doesn't mean the buses won't enter service eventually.

Sounds more like a mistake with the bus not being fully charged before going into service. No bus should run out as the range would be enough for a days service.

Happened last week, boarded at Mare Street towards Finsbury Park. When the bus went over Clapton Rbt, the driver made an announcement that the bus is running out of power and passengers should transfer onto the replacement which was already parked up. The driver that delivered the replacement bus then took the one running out of power back to NP.

I have yet to see any reports of electrics running out of power during the day whilst in service. The same thing can happen with diesel buses.

Whilst your point is perfectly valid, the range of an electric vehicle when leaving the garage is lower in comparison to diesel/hybrid/hydrogen vehicles. This puts the risk, whilst still remaining low, higher than the other 3.

Whilst true, companies have managed to get allocations and duties to work, with any running out of charge being isolated cases (ie. due to faults, accidentally not getting plugged in etc.) Though I do advocate towards Hydrogen over Electric

Good to see the LOTS report that Metroline have got some hydrogen buses on the road for driver training.
