Apparently Oxford City Council is interested in pursuing this.

Also Swindon: Thamesdown Borough, Stagecoach West and Go-Ahead Swindon Bus Company (the former Thamesdown Transport) have been in talks about submitting a bid to make Swindon the UK's first all-electric bus town.

A pressure group, Clean Air Colchester, is lobbying Essex County Council to draw up plans for an all-electric bus network in the borough, which is expanding rapidly. Colchester town centre has traffic problems and a number of pollution hotspots, as the narrow Roman streets trap pollutants and increase the volume of harmful gases. Source: www.focustransport.org/

Now Warrington Borough Council has entered the fray. The Council owns 100% of Warrington's Own Buses, which operates 80% of the bus mileage in the Borough. The expression of interest to the Department of Transport states that having the UK's first all-electric bus fleet would raise the profile of Warrington as a place to live and work; and would support the Council's ambitions for greener and cleaner transport options thoiughout the Borough. Coventry will have 297 electric vehicles in service by the end of 2025 to make it the UK's first city to be served entirely by electric buses. £50million is to be invested by the Department for Transport and will add to £75million investment in vehicles by operators in the city.
The funding will be secured once a final business case is submitted to and approved by the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) on 19 March. The successful bid was made by a consortium of Coventry City Council, Warwickshire County Council and Transport for West Midlands (TfWM) which is part of the WMCA.

I might be wrong, but I personally expect the new 8 year Fast-track contract from next year and it's 28 new electric buses to go to an operator other than Arriva - and after that I'd expect to see the curtain pulled on Arriva operation from Northfleet. The 28 electric buses are going to be pantograph-equipped (Volvo/MCV so I'm told) full sized single decks, with tables onboard - complete with a new blue and red colour scheme. And they are aiming for a 20-30 year lifespan of such vehicles!😳 Also plans for a autonomous shuttle trial on the network next year.
