I wonder how much they have spoken to National Grid. Seems Stagecoach Cambridge are restricted to two charging points due to capacity constraints. Wonder who will be the first London operator to encounter such issues? I think densely-populated London has more powerful electricity supply infrastructure than rural Cambridgeshire! (the vehicles are for Busway services, which are operated out of Fenstanton Depot). It does underline the point though that the allocation of electric vehicles to route has to go hand-in-hand with infrastructure development (both electricity supply and depots), rather than simply saying that electric vehicles should simply be allocated to routes going though pollution hotspots. When even full diesels are to EuroVI standard, emissions from buses are a miniscule part of the problem in those areas. Just a correction to the above - the two Enviro400EVs with Stagecoach East will not be used on The Busway, but on Cambridge "citi" route 6 (City Cente-Oakington). They have appeared an a variant of the new standard Stagecoach livery and are low-height (4.2m) versions. They are numbered 14033/4 which suggests they are a follow-on order from the 32 for Stagecoach in Manchester.
