Harrow Council and TFL have recently released a consultation to imprvove Wealdstone High Street. The area is noted for significant delays for buses in the area, and plans have been released to hopefully improve that: consult.harrow.gov.uk/consult.ti/Wealstonetcimprov/consultationHomeI just think making the High Street buses only will solve the issue, just like Harrow Town Centre. Important to note, there are plans to create bus stands in Wealdstone. Perhaps for the H9/10 or maybe for the X140, who knows. But TFL clearly want a route to terminate in Wealdstone.

Off topic from buses but why in god's name is Harrow wasting money replacing the lampposts along the affected section with more generic ones. The ones currently in place on the high street are still in production and can be easily converted to LED's saving a fortune in erecting new columns and are commonly used for high streets and other town centre type roads.

I didnt know if it fit here, but interesting that TFL want to have new bus stands in Wealdstone, presumably to cut a route back. Hopefully it's for an extension of the X140 to ease pressure on Harrow Bus Station

I’m hoping for an extension of the X140 too as they seem to have missed a trick by not connecting the WCML with a direct express link to Heathrow

I doubt it'll be the H9/H10 as TfL have recently tinkered with that. X140 would be good but then if you go to Wealdstone you might as well continue to Harrow Weald. What I can see happening is the 182 being cut back to Wealdstone with the new shorter 140 being extended round to Oxhey Lane. Harrow Weald would still have the 140, 258 & 340 (+ N18 & N140) link from Harrow which is still good enough. According to the detailed diagram, I think there's room for three buses. It is interesting to note that the left turn out of Palmerstone route [from stand] would have a lowered curb to facilitate bus/HGV movement, which kind of suggests that whatever the new bus stands would be used for, whether it is a new or extended route like X140 or route cutback like 182, is expected to terminate from, and return to, the south. The downside here is that whichever direction a route would terminate from, to reach this stand one of the Wealdstone town centre stops would be missed out.

I quite like these proposals and definitely agree that Wealdstone needs a "refresh" to put it mildly. I feel a bit mixed about the continual need for carriageway narrowing and unsure whether allowing normal vehicular traffic to traverse the whole of the high street NB is wise.
I wonder what further ideas will come out for the rest of the Station Road corridor [from Harrow] which is expected to be "refreshed".
Just have to wait now to see the TfL Wealdstone consultation come out. Some new routes or route extensions would be good but just suspect a few cutbacks focused on Wealdstone.
