I think we must be watching different TV reports. The government is asking manufacturers to turn over production lines to make ventilators - I am sorry I don't want seem like I am trolling for reactions BUT this is getting serious. France is pretty much in total lockdown now.
One thing transport related - I noticed just how packed some EL1 buses were yesterday I think maybe buses should be instructed to only carry seated passengers with no standing to try and minimise close contact! I know t can't be enforced and sitting next to passengers is similar.
Yes but the point I was making is that there is no shortage of food and I think supermarkets and their supply chains are doing a pretty good job in difficult circumstances. Obviously the virus should be taken seriously but at the same time we need to be careful not to overreact. France isn't in lockdown just the closure of non essential businesses like pubs nightclubs and restaurants. There is a shortage though, it's just not being reported. Deliveries of all the main items being panic brought are struggling to come through at both us & Tesco and its likely the same at other supermarkets. If people were more considerate, then you wouldn't have this situation in terms of stock. And on the subject of herd immunity, that is a massive gamble with the elderly lives and would result in many deaths. The trouble is, as virologists point out, is we don't know enough about this disease to do such a thing as herd immunity especially when you mention that some people aren't taking it seriously which makes herd immunity extremely dangerous. It's very telling that Americans began taking it seriously once it was declared a national emergency although they obviously weren't helped by having a buffoon in charge given out crap information and calling the virus a hoax - the point I'm making is by declaring a lockdown, this is likely when others would begin taking it seriously.

People can’t keep panic buying, I mean how much pasta do people actually want ? People who have stocked up , all well and good. But no need to keep on buying, because the scientific evidence is this will indeed peak in the next few weeks, before tailing off. Well, that is what we all hope anyway.
It is causing much anxiety. I admire people who carry on regardless. Others will worry more . Key is not to worry to excess and take all the precautions against spreading it. Also , listen to other news items or interests.

I use the frequent Stagecoach Manchester route 192 quite often, especially but not just for work. This morning I just missed one and had my longest wait yet for a Saturday. Then many bus stops that usually have at least 1 person waiting had nobody waiting. I did therefore reach work on time. It made me think that there was at least 1 bus driver on that route off sick and fewer people wanting to head to busy Manchester or out on a bus occupied by other people. I think that's the likely short-term impact of Coronavirus, buses not turning up because the driver is sick or following advice to self-isolate and fewer passengers travelling for the same reasons. If a lot of drivers are absent, and/or if passenger numbers start dropping significantly some companies may introduce emergency temporary timetables. I can't say yet that I have noticed any appreciable difference here in Torbay and yet we are one of the first UK hotspots. Even restaurants, pubs and shops have not started closing down yet. Stagecoach have issued a statement* that, for now, there is no advisory against normal travel and so they are operating a full service. They are giving extra attention to cleaning and driver hygiene. * it's on their website. Its all very well these companies saying they are doing extra cleaning but saying and doing are completely different things. Every bus driver will know how dirty bus cabs get especially in corners and crevices such as the dash where chewing gum, apple cores and thick layers of dust gather. Most bus companies do a full deep clean once a year on MOT. I've become slightly concerned about this virus and bus driving because as someone else said we should not be allowing packed buses and if i hear someone coughing what do i do?

I have no idea when the panic buying is going to end but it's getting worst and people have become insane. I work at M&S Foods in Greenford and from Monday we ran out of Toilet Paper and now we've run out of Hand wipes, Hand Santizers, Chicken, Fruit, Pasta, Bread, Baker stuff, Toilet Paper and kitchen Towels. There a lot shelves are empty. It's just getting terrible. We are replacing the blank shelves with tinned Tomatoes and water bottles. it's strange how people don't bull buy the healty stuff ike water, Orange juice or Soup. Our shop was more busy than normal. I saw one of our customer using our bags for the fruit & Veg as gloves. The Media is not helping things. One of customers said to me thank god that we had Cereal because he's been to several Tesco's and they had none.
Once a customer was complaining how she went to several Tesco's and they had no Toilet roll. She said what's wrong with people and I said Conviro virus or what ever it's called. She ignored me. Then procceded to by all the toilet roll from our store. So how can you complain about people then do the said same thing.
People have gone insane and the Media or Boris is not helping things.
How comes whenever there is a crisis the Goverment doesn't know what to do?

That customer you referred to is typical of many people who complain about 'panic buying' but are quite happy to 'panic buy' themselves given the opportunity.

I don’t know give reassurance to it’s people and tell people to stop panic buying and live normally but still be cautious. Wash your hands.

Completely agree but from what I've seen in my local Asda, Sainsburys and M&S the shortages are affecting long life products like pastas, tinned foods and frozen foods. I've had no problem securing fresh meat, vegetables etc and I've continued to shop responsibly. But not being able to secure frozen foods and long life products will have a detrimental affect on the low income earners, elderly and those on a fixed income. I am lucky that I am in a well paid job in a very secure industry and I am able to afford fresh food, which historically costs a lot more, but where I live a lot of people can't and it's them I feel will be hit by this the most.

After popping to ASDA today I dread to think what the tube will be like this week. The way people were acting with masks / covering faces was awful - wasn't a nice experiences. People seem to think its in the air all the time where as I understand its spread by droplets when people cough / sneeze.

The tube wasn't actually that bad, in my carriage on the Central Line which was moderately loaded only 2 people were wearing them. I find it a bit ridiculous seeing as the virus can still make its way through a mask due to the size of the droplets.

Indeed, majority of the fresh food hasn't been affected and much of our own frozen food bar prawns (we aren't allowed to stock too much prawns at our particular Iceland branch for other reasons) is still in a good situation but I think it will be a matter of time if the production line across Europe is affected - for example, we've gone from a couple of weeks ago getting too much cheese whereas over the last week, the supply has dwindled dramatically.

Not going to lie this is stressing me out now.
Wonder what will happen in terms of transport in London seen as we are ahead of the the rest of UK and looks like lockdown is likely.
