Bus passenger numbers down 10%. Tube by 19%. Concerning Concerning, but not at all surprising given the circumstances. This morning whilst travelling back to uni I noticed the trains were a lot quieter than normal, particularly on Thameslink, and this was just after 7am. My LNER Azuma this morning back to Leeds was empty too, and this is meant to be their flagship route although I have since heard from others that the trains back north are usually quiet at that time.

Do you normally lie then? Maybe it's just me but that's what I assume of people who use that phrase. I've yet to meet anybody that is overly concerned about it and the general attitude seems to be quite dismissive of it all. I was in Central London today and whilst it was quiter than usual most people seemed to be enjoying the spring like weather and life seemed to be going pretty much as normal. I spoke to a friend in Benidorm and he said it's much the same there and the attempted 'lockdown' wasn't going well. The pubs closed so people buy alcohol from the supermarket and drink it on the beach. The next day the beach is cordoned off thus forcing people to sit around town drinking, ie forcing people closer together which is surely the opposite of what was intended? Police then driving round with megaphones almost pleading with people to stay at home or in their hotel and with tempers getting fraid the police were wary of provoking civil disorder. I guess we'll have to wait and see how things develop, I'm not going to be totally dismissive of the threat but I'm not losing any sleep just yet. Come on this isn't the time for this, I'm sure you are clever enough to know that it's a saying. I been working in Central London today and it's been eerily quiet around it feels like Christmas Eve. Exactly, it’s a saying I use sometimes as do a number of people I know - I guess we all must be liars by that definition then. These arguments are incredibly tedious even more so given what’s going on in the world.

Well it was actually meant in a light hearted way but never mind.

The vast majority of people in Spain actually complied with the order and it was mainly people going to work or tourists trying to leave that were out & about. Those British people should be ashamed of themselves behaving like they did in someone else’s country holding parties in the street when authorities have ordered people to stay in - regardless of anyone’s opinion, people should just do as your told by the authorities Did they? It wasn't just Brits.

From BBC website.
London 'a few weeks ahead' of other places London is a few weeks ahead in terms of the virus curve than other places - meaning transmission is happening more rapidly, the PM says.
For this reason, he says, those in the capital need to be especially cautious.
The government, he continues, recognises that the "very draconian" measures he has outlined will be “asking a lot" from the everyone.

Just watched BBC London News interview with Sadiq Khan he said the will be a Saturday timetable operating on the Tube but didn't say a date of when that will be implemented. He didn't mention the buses but I presume it will be the same for them I overheard a rumour that there would be a Sunday service but doesn't appear this is happening just yet. I think a Saturday service will be better rather than a Sunday service even if the the loadings are what they are at the moment we can get away with a Saturday service. Remember it's still a working week even if people are working from home.

We've all been watching what other countries have been doing and decided to take action - look at the response to ending football matches so quickly. I can't see many businesses functioning properly for weeks, and the buses will be even emptier for some time. We've imposed our own curfew (save for those fighting for pasta and toilet roll )

The Jubilee, District and Central Line trains have been rammed solid as normal despite the virus. I was hoping for a more relaxed commute but that doesn't look likely until we go to a total lockdown.

I'm working in the rush hour tomorrow so will will have a look then but today it was the quietest I have ever seen it for a "Working" Monday.

Sadiq Khan has suggested services to could be scaled back even more from a Sunday service level.
He is joining the government Cobra meeting today.
I assume this could start having a affect on staff pay as less drivers will be needed?
