What are you expecting him to do or not do? He said earlier about many families losing loved ones before their time. He can't spell it out any clearer than that although some will accuse him of scaremongering. What am I expecting him to do? Be more frank & honest and release all the information relevant to the virus and it's effects and to make sure that 111 & NHS online does not give out false information like it has being. Something i read on facebook yesterday and funnily enough whilst uploading someone saying similar on BBC news

I have seen various news outlets of people panic buying toilet roll like that's really going to help...NOT!!! The media are an easy scapegoat like Boris is, with a likelihood of having to self isolate people are inevitably going to be stocking up on essentials like toilet rolls. The only thing I've been unable to get is hand sanitiser although I've got a few bottles as it's something I've always used but inevitably the surge in demand for it is going to create a shortage, it's nobodys fault. This situation is unprecedented, it almost feels as though we are at war and this blame culture really isn't helping.

It's just been confirmed that this weekends St Patrick's Day celebrations in London have been cancelled.

This situation is unprecedented, it almost feels as though we are at war and this blame culture really isn't helping. Panic buying is not helpful because what it does is leave the actual people who are at risk (elderly in particular) less chance of stocking up given it them who will need it at most. No one needs 88 toilet rolls at home - just about every customer I've spoken to over the last week thinks it's absolutely ridiculous that people are panic buying including one customer who later told me he manages a shop elsewhere. It may be unprecedented but it's not comparable to war in any sense - the media has whipped up an unnecessary frenzy with certain outlets spreading false news and it has created an excuse for people to not only panic buy but to profit from others fears by selling the items on EBay for stupid prices. The media is not a scapegoat nor is Boris. The governments response has been very mixed - other countries have acted yet the UK gets into the usual mentality of do nothing when it's clear more extreme action needs to be taken.

I think the term panic buying is somewhat misleading, obviously people are going to be buying more of certain products than they would do normally and maybe I've been fortunate but other than hand sanitiser I've been able to buy everything I would normally buy. I'm not sure that the government does need to be taking extreme actions at the moment, close schools and it results in children being home alone because their parents are working or they just go and meet their friends anyway or stay with grandparents putting them at risk. The government might need to be taking more action when this peaks but nobody can force people to stay at home. Sporting events have been cancelled and that seems to be sufficient for now although obviously the situation can change. Some elderly neighbours of mine are carrying on pretty much as normal despite the fact that they are at higher risk, their attitude is that they'd rather take their chances than spend weeks or even months effectively under house arrest.

Some elderly neighbours of mine are carrying on pretty much as normal despite the fact that they are at higher risk, their attitude is that they'd rather take their chances than spend weeks or even months effectively under house arrest. It isn’t misleading - I work in a supermarket and have witnessed first hand people stocking up like a nuclear war is breaking out which is nothing like this pandemic. Children won’t be home alone - parents can get time off in order to look after children as has already happened with the schools that have already closed since the beginning of the outbreak. All parents need to do is minimise contact between them & older family members. The government has been slow and quite rightly most sporting events have been cancelled although irresponsibly, Cheltenham went ahead as does one rugby match - money prioritised over people’s health. The Premier League only acted after criticism was rightly levelled at them when leaked plans showed they were to play the rest of the season behind closed doors. Your elderly members are entitled to as they please providing they don’t put others at risk. However, if we end up adopting measures like in Italy, they’ll have no choice but to stay in unless granted special permission to leave the house.

Another email has gone out to staff from bus companies.
TfL has asked to prepare for things like scheduling Sunday/Saturday services on weekdays if staff numbers are too low, "low priority" routes being suspended and guidance in the event of a suspension of TfL services which could be phased or sudden.
Last but not least, if a driver suspects a customer to be ill and showing symptoms of coronavirus, the bus must be "contained", passengers must not allowed to leave and emergency services to be informed via code red immediately. Good luck stopping customers from forcing their way out...!

The Government are really making a mess of the situation. I don't think we have ever lived thought anything like this.

I've never known it so quiet. Central London is like an early Sunday morning. Hardly anyone about. I've just been through Gatwick Airport and that's dead too.

If I was still within the firm I would of 'sarcastically' asked for a demonstration on how a single driver is to contain a busload of up to 100 people, any whom have the ability to escape via the emergency buttons.
