I know the 58 is currently ran by tower transit but one thing that has always eluded me was how come U (when it was operational) never actually operated the route but it was ran by T? I think it might be because U was pretty much always at capacity and used to run high PVR routes like the 15/15B and the old 23! I know the 58 passes Upton Park but it should be remembered it used to run to Canning Town until 1993 so was very easy for driver change overs at the old West Ham garage in Greengate Street. The 58 ran from the old WH garage from 1960 - 1992.

The same even can be said with the first 5 years of Stagecoach running the 179 from T only really done to avoid any route shuffles and it sort of a pain for driver changeovers from Ilford/Gants Hill to Leyton than having the route from BK in the first place by moving the 101 to WH at the time to make space, after few years of them running the 179 and BK losing the 5, Stagecoach have realised that it would be better for the 179 to run from BK on its new contract in 2018.
The 179 from T was much more of a strange one as it didn't serve either Leyton or Walthamstow unlike the 58 which served both of those places.
The 179 one I vaguely remembered that it was due to the space at BK as the 5 was there at the time as you rightly said. I think WH241 did mention in a thread somewhere about the unions on the 101. WH241 correct me if I'm wrong.

This of course could have just been a rumour but does seem to ring true when you think about it...

Yes the 330 will placed the 162 in part which was also withdrawn in 93.

I think it was more a case of BK had a bit of space and the 101 would be pretty easy/easier to operate from BK as it was closer for meal reliefs and dead runs. At time of closure, there wouldn't have been room at BK for the 101 and 238 (which could have been efficiently run from BK)

Trying to arrange reliefs would be been a bit of a nightmare from WH, but East Ham was on 15-20 minutes on a 5 from BK

15024-29 are being converted to open top and if that is being used in London then it should be for the City Sightseeing London to replace the loaned B5TL Geminis from Cambridge and allow a possible enhancements to the tour service for this year.

Will the 330 be extended to Pontoon Dock from 15th January 2022?
