I saw the 25 on First day of Service with Stagecoach while doing the 76 but didn't really pay too much attention, I was on 76 Today and saw 25 again but had a good look and realised that they are Mirrorless as well, I was impressed with their buses more impressive when saw them Mirrorless👍 I have been on 3 so far. Even though I am not a big fan of slavecoach I'm impressed with what they have ordered. I'm waiting until it's perfectly safe but looking forward to trying them out.

I've seen quite a few coming back from work, annoying that I can can't go on them because of lockdown but it wouldn't be right for me to go on them just because I have the opportunity to so being nearby. I know I'm waiting for the right reasons. I have used a few buses during lockdown but these have been local ones to get me two and from a tube station when I've missed the national rail.

Of course better safe than sorry. I have only been using them because I have to for personal reasons but when this is all over once you have been on one you will definitely travel on them again.

Very lucky that the bus you have to use for personal reasons is the one with the new change 🙂. I will certianly be going on the 25 but going to do the 285 first I just can't wait for that change. Been looking forward to to it since the tender got announced 😁

Something I was thinking.
Is it possible for an operator to either order buses without firming them until a later date? I say this because following the 25 tender the buses appeared in the order books really quickly and then were in build just a few months later - much earlier than expected. They then turned up with the old Stagecoach logo, with standard mirrors and 69 plates. Following this there was almost no sign at all of the 425s buses, I know Stagecoach have a habit of splitting one big batch destined for many routes between Scarborough and Falkirk but even then the 425s buses should have been sighted around.
I imagine the telling point here will be if the 425s buses turn out with the new logo from the factory, and maybe an updated interior.

It could be that Stagecoach had a firm order placed for their national fleet but changed the specifications for some to London standard shortly after the 25 award with an extra order to replace them. Maybe the 425 buses were an additional order so got placed into the cycle at a later date.

From what I remember, to ensure delivery in time, National Express diverted an order of Enviro 400s from the West Midlands to London for their route 35 & 40 gains and asked that these be changed to dual door. NatEx then ordered a replacement batch for the West Midlands, which they could afford to have delivered a bit later.

Would this of been before they were built as NXWM ordered LWB examples only like many provincial operators?

I'd guess that they already had build slots reserved for their provincial order, so they would just have asked for those build slots to be switched to the London order. As you say, I doubt they would have ordered SWB buses for their provincial operations.

I agree and have been tempted to travel beyond what would be reasonable, but have kept it to travelling to/from work. Stagecoach BW are an excellent garage and their buses are immaculate. Really enjoy using their LTs on the 8 from time to time. The 25 has been running very well from what I’ve seen, and the buses look very smart

I look forward to these essential trippers making their essential trips on the 106 next week.

I remember there were order changes years ago with the SLD's changing some to the longer 10.8m from 10.2m although things like this do have a cut off date though.
