Wow cannot believe it is an end of an era for route 97 from me as it is getting the worst possible Hybrids after LTs!
I used to take it to school in Chingford back in the late 90s / early 2000s when First Capital operated it from NP then in 2005 Stagecoach exchanged it with the 58!
A fond memory was that I would deliberately wait for it over the 215 when it came to Stagecoach just to ride a TA!
Knowing a lot of drivers at T garage back then, it was the most favoured route before the Stratford City extension! I second that as a passenger/enthusiast.
Time flies for sure, now the 262/473 fond memories:
As an East Londoner since being a baby despite being born in Enfield, I have grown up with the local area buses. The 262/473 when run from the old U garage with amazing TA buses have a special spot inside me.
The 262 as most will know used to run up to East Beckton Sainsburys but the funny thing was that there used to be a Bowling centre just 2 stops further on the 325 and 366 which me and family would go to. Basically I used the route frequently around the good old days.
The 473 was the direct route from Stratford to the Free Ferry (still is). I recall when returning sometimes from relatives in Lewisham, I would walk thru the foot tunnel then use the route back to Stratford.
Even feels weird typing this but looking on the bright side, until late summer/ early autumn both routes will use Diesel B9TLs from GoAhead!

The 262 actually ran to the bowling alley, it randomly got cut back around 2008 for whatever reason.

I used to like that Bowling Alley a lot, now it is either Surrey Quays or Finsbury Park.

So where the showcase cinemas used to be there is a roundabout over there and the 262 would use that to turn back around back to Stratford. I have a feeling it was due to the reliability issues along that stretch of the route and so they "temporarily" cut it back to the sainsbury's (SavaCentre as I always remembered it as) only for the news to break that it would become permanent.

I'm at WH this morning and it's rather gloomy to see so many scanias parked up with notices saying "disposal vehicle do not fuel or take any parts". On the plus side it seems lucky scania-1 15001 is still going strong. It's got running number 10 plate in the window for the 241 so hopefully this'll be out later and stay in service for a little longer.

15046 lives on making its debut at LI. No it doesn’t - log in only, no Scanias are moving to LI - you can actually see it in the previous picture as withdrawn…

I had assumed probably a last minute change didn’t realise it was a log on…… EDIT: Well it’s moving so unless it’s another bus tracking as that Scania then my initial comment was right and that it’s moved to LI for whatever reason…

15046 lives on making its debut at LI. 15106 is now out as well. Guessing another duty being covered by WH? I wonder not all the 97 drivers decided to transfer to LI which is causing the shortage of drivers? Will be interesting on a weekday when the PVRs are higher.
