I wouldn’t be surprised if this isn’t the only postponement of operator change. The P5 is due to move from Go Ahead to Abellio only a week after this so I wonder if this move will be put on hold. Then there’s that major change of 25/N25 to stagecoach on 23rd May

Can't see 285 moving to Abellio on the 27th June. Why? Training drivers for the new mirrorless buses will be extremely tricky without breaking social distancing rules.

Training drivers for the new mirrorless buses will be extremely tricky without breaking social distancing rules. Couldn't they just remove the mirrorless technology and just put normal mirrors?

The day will come when we’ll see a change in double deckers at TH, can’t say I won’t miss those Ts, though. A pity there aren't some DWs at that shed, if only for a bit of variety. I’m sure that was gonna be a possibility when the 64 was won in 2016, and it was originally gonna use the 59’s DWs rather than using the 341’s Ts? But then again, the 64 might have still used the DWs, but would have been run from TC instead leaving TH again with just one double decker type.

I thought it was the 417 that was won with DWs then changes to Ts rather then the 64.

I thought it was the 417 that was won with DWs then changes to Ts rather then the 64. Both routes were awarded with DW’s, but DW’s from another route (can’t remember which one) transferred to the 341 to send the T’s to TH instead. The 221 was originally meant to receive T’s from Norwood IIRC but that was swapped with DW’s from the 417 after all the batch had transferred over and been refurbished

Quite interesting seeing Arriva sticking with ADL once and for all, I could imagine Arriva retaining 198 with brand new E400H MMCs Think you’ve fallen for an April fools joke. Ugh

Training drivers for the new mirrorless buses will be extremely tricky without breaking social distancing rules. I could be wrong here of course as nobody knows when the social distancing rules will be lifted but I reckon we could be out of this full lockdown by May at the latest. This gives about three or four weeks for driver and type training to begin, but when Metrobus got their mirrorless E400MMC's for route 197, type training and route learning began 4 weeks in advance. However, with the factories being closed, the new batch for the 285 will probably be delayed hence why I won't be surprised if the 285 and K1 changeovers are delayed. It will also mean that TC won't receive their new MMC's for the 405 a few months early like they have for every previous new bus delivery. If things were normal I wouldn't be surprised if delivery of the HT's started in June or July. Of course however, new buses being delivered late for a changeover is certainly the least of my concerns right now, and I surely speak for others saying that with the coronavirus crisis ongoing.
