I wonder if it was Banstaead short or whether is was going all the way from West Croydon to Epsom Hosp which would be fair mileage for it?

With the closure of SF due to route losses in the area, I wonder if GY could also close due to similar reasons? Not many routes go particularly close to GY anyway - routes around the Romford/Dagenham area could be run from GY, but this is a similar distance to that between GR* and Harrow/Edgware/etc. With the losses of routes 128 and 173, DX will have enough space to take over most of GY's allocation. Very few routes are up for tender soon in this area, so little opportunity to win new routes instead at DX/GY. Once the 173/673 transfer to Stagecoach, DX should have space for the 103, 347, 370 and 375. The 66 could be run from either CT or EC, both of which are not too far from the Leytonstone end (using the A12 or A406 respectively). Or another option could be to run the 66 from DX, with the 370 going to DT (a short distance from Lakeside, but not sure if this would work well with traffic at the Dartford crossing). *Also, regarding GR's closure a few years ago, with the distance between the garage and most routes, I think it may have been a missed opportunity to turn the former storage site Arriva had in Borehamwood into an operational garage. I think this was located close to Stirling Corner, so much better placed to run routes around the Edgware area, being a short distance along the A1. Another advantage is that this would have been closer to other Arriva London routes/garages, and the location could have also enabled running routes in the Barnet area at the time (e.g. 34/184/307, also 221). Even the 268/H2/H3 would be in closer proximity than GR, though AD/WN might still have been better placed for the Golders Green area. I think Arriva did bid to retain routes 268/H2/H3 from AD but lost these to Metroline. As CT is taking on route 73, I think EC would be more likely to get their kicks on route 66 being operated from there instead.

why would you close GY and then run the 370 from Dartford? May as well run it from Southend or Mars. As someone else posted previously, it's cheaper for Arriva to run the 66 from GY. There's no point in speculating about other garages closing- garages can, and will, continue to survive running fewer routes. lmfao just wondering what the garage code would be for Mars Potentially MA. Not just being the first 2 letters of Mars, but because MA could be an acronym for the film Mars Attacks.
