I was told by a 289 driver, he said he has been told, the 289 will go electric next August 2025 Uhh I’d like to hope this is just canteen talk 😀. This doesn’t even sound realistic, unless it perhaps has something to do with the SL6 I am not sure who told him, whether it was an Arriva official or just, as you say, canteen talk.

This is not aimed at Arriva but the across all companies and garages. This is one reason I say the 2030 target date is unachievable even if funding was given. that's crazy a lot of electric buses still not entry service why do they take long is it because grid. There few buses are year delay like Metroline meant route 487 384 E2 E8 316 297 83 buses still year behind

As garages electrify there should be less delays on average in the future But delays to buses being built could increase as more are needed. Orders from operators outside of London also need to be considered. Also garage infrastructure still might need upgrading in the future as more chargers are needed.

That's a good point - TFL can award all routes with electric contracts to begin by 2030, but no guarantee that new EVs will be in service yet on every route - whether this is down to electrifying garages, or manufacturing capacity. I suppose it will help if they can get every garage wired up earlier, then it's just a matter of installing additional chargers for the remaining routes. But then also have to consider that fully electrifying a garage will usually reduce overall capacity, therefore some operators will need to consider looking for additional sites in the future. Generally when diesels and hybrids were being ordered, it was quite common for a route to have new buses from the first day of the new contract (or earlier). But just right now, all of the following routes have now started new contracts with EVs specified, but still awaiting the buses on order: 50 83 101 113 143 187 194 206 210 228 242 243 250 255 277 289 297 314 320 321 325 333 382 473 487 C11 D7 E2 E8 P12 S3 W7 W8 W12 W13 W14 PV seems to be the worst example at the moment - while the WDEs are mostly in service at other garages, the 297 is now 21 months into the current contract. And in terms of manufacturing (rather than charging infrastructure), the 321 is now 9 months past the contract start but no sign of any new EVs being delivered. Also with the existing fleet, a large number of ex-507/521 SEes are left out of service for a long time, presumably awaiting chargers at NX?

For W13/W14, we have briefly see the Volvo electrics briefly enter service on them, its just the order completing in time for them, for the 50 its partially electric but given its at TH will have to wait for the chargers to be made available
