You walk down Oxford Street and ask 10 people what the oldest unchanged bus route in London is I would hazard a guess that no one would know the answer unless you the one person you asks is an Enthusiast. As an enthusiast, I actually have no idea π³ Is it the 94? 7 has been meddled with, so has the 98/159, 73, 390, 113? 94? The route is a callow youth compared to the 24! The 94 commenced on 22nd September 1990, when the 88 was cut back to Oxford Circus. And it has had a few small route changes in its time.

Honourable mention to the 99 : yes, itβs had various eastern appendages, but the core route from Woolwich to Erith via Upper Belvedere has remained the same since 1913.

I think the 240 may claim second place.

What about the 43 it hasnt been changed since 1935 it only had a sunday service to Croydon The 43 has had only minor tinkering over the years, including a few months in 1989 when it was cut back to Hampden Road due to problems with parked cars at Friern Barnet. It also had garage journeys in service to and from North Finchley when that garage had an allocation between 1983 and 1986. Also don't forget that the Sunday service was rerouted via Bishopsgate for a few years to serve the Sunday markets.

Interesting that there's all this talk regarding the 24... when the Haringey borough bus review is finalised and published you'll see a proposal which I think a few members on here will like. What proposal is this that would be good?

What proposal is this that would be good? Im guessing itβs to do with the 29, if it receives a cut imma be hella mad. 29 does wonders. It could be an extension though π

It could be an extension though π I don't think they would do a borough review for just one route, would just fall under a Route 29 consultation should that route be part of it - most likely it will involve a number of routes though I think the 29 being extended is something we could quite easily rule out personally.

Is this Haringay council doing a review or TFL. If its Haringay then I doubt much would be carried forward by TFL

The only cut to the 29 possibly could be to TCR using the 134 stand and leave the 24 and 176 down Charing X Road. I doubt extending it to Pimlico in place of the 24 would work as it would be too long.

I see the 24 is fast becoming the new 68! has anything even been confirmed about any changes to the 24 or 29 for that matter.
