So what affect, if any, will this have on the upcoming contract changes? And would it be totally irresponsible to go into central London to ride the highly anticipated new buses on the C10? It may be sensible for Abellio to deliberately not introduce all the Caetanos at once so bus enthusiasts are not tempted to descend into Southwark to try the new buses. I can just imagine the phone call now: TfL "Hello, is that Abellio London ABL: *cough cough* yes it is, don't worry its not the coronavirus, its just a cough TfL: Any chance of getting your new buses into service soon, only we want loads of lovely electric buses running in central london ASAP ABL: Hmm maybe TfL: Any reason why not ABL: We'd rather hold back to a time when bus enthusiasts around London are able to ride around all day without worrying about the coronavirus

Now seems that from Monday 23rd, a Saturday service will replace weekday service on the buses
Should also be weekday night service, but initially some night or 24 hour buses may work to enhanced weekend night levels as currently some buses are scheduled that way and might take some time to untangle the day and night schedule transition (could also change some early and late day services)
I understand it is fast evolving, but seems that school buses will be stopped (but if today is last day isn’t clear yet, as the Wednesday evening school closures announcement, was after previous expected plan)

TfL has updated its website homepage, adding a banner emblazoned with the remarkable request: "Please do not travel". Attachment DeletedJust another sign of these extraordinary times.

TfL has introduced new announcements across the Underground network, urging people to stop using TfL services unless absolutely essential.
I wonder if similar announcements will be introduced on iBus.

Passenger loads on the buses I used today were so small that they could easily reduce to a Sunday timetable now.

Could probably do a Sunday service on the weekends now and a Saturday service with even some routes not running (349 covered by the 279 as far as Seven Sisters). The night tube routes (132, 154 etc) have stopped aswell now.

The eventual problem may end up being a lack of drivers due to illness and self isolation.

The eventual problem may end up being a lack of drivers due to illness and self isolation. Booking on for duty on Thurs Fri and Today there have been colleagues phoning in to self isolate because either they have symptoms or a member of family/household has symptoms. This will keep the number of fit staff dwindling down till some staff hopefully resume back This is why ALL Underground lines are operating "special" services this enables a little wriggle room for staffing trains/stations.I would not be surprised if further temporary station closures occur if staffing levels continue to plummet. The best thing for people is AVOID PUBLIC TRANSPORT unless it is an ESSENTIAL journey do NOT travel for social reasons STAY AT HOME.

If a Sunday services is introduced across the board for the duration would this be the first time there's been a general Sunday service on a Saturday?

Not quite, as Boxing Day and New Years Day would have fallen on Saturday in the past If New Year's Day falls on a Saturday then the normal Saturday service operates, as a Sunday service operates on the 'proper' Bank Holiday 3rd January. The one exception was on Saturday 1st January 2000 when a Sunday service operated as many shops and outlets did not open after the 'big' New Year's Eve the night before. Ted B

Heidi Alexander, Deputy Mayor of London for Transport, has revealed that yesterday's Tube journeys were down 87% year-on-year, with bus journeys down 61% (London-wide).
That certainly implies that the figures quoted by the Prime Minister a few days ago - of inner London bus journeys falling by 80%; outer London down by 60% - were indeed accurate.
It's surely just a matter of time (and not very much time, I would think) until TfL announces further service reductions. I can't see how this level of supply of services can be sustained when there is so little demand.
