After it was mentioned that the 94 was considered for bendy bus operation with a garage in North Acton.
We also know the 134 was considered.
The 279 was also a candidate but not sure why it didn't go ahead.
Does anybody know anymore routes that were considered?
Whilst it was felt that the 29 was the last logical route were anymore after 2006 considered?

Would the bendies have been able to make the left turn from Regent Street to Oxford Street on the 94? I thought this was the reason the 12 was originally curtailed.
Would have been interesting seeing the bendies perform the u-turn on the 279 at Manor House, not sure the bus station at Waltham Cross would have accommodated them either

I thought the same with the 12. I can't remember where they used to stand. In fairness the 12 was going to change anyways due to the overlapping sections thou i guess it could have become Dulwich to NHG through.

But in sections. Or certainly by the mid 90s it was Dulwich to Oxo and PM to NHG. There was obviously a need for 2 routes on the middle section.

Of all routes you mention the 94s and 134s consideration did go as far as having bendy uses as an option on tender. tfl.gov.uk/forms/13796.aspx?btID=117 tfl.gov.uk/forms/13796.aspx?btID=3

The TG1 was long expected to be a bendy bus route - before eventually being awarded with hybrid double decks which arrived as diesel ones!
I also remember the 174 being touted for bendy operation as the Thames gateway transit scheme was expected to encompass the route - but that never got off the ground.

That's also the reason a lot of the current ELT stops seem to be abnormally long. There was also a plan to turn the roundabout by Barking Station into a bus stand for the bendies, as at the time the route wasn't planned to head down Ilford Lane to Ilford.

Paul am I right in thinking you said before that a bendy can get around the bend at Oxford Circus? Correct. My dad did it on more than one occasion when the 453 was diverted

I remember when I was younger when I wanted route 159 to convert to a bendy operation cause I wanted them in my area of London lol. However, in retrospect I wonder if route 109 was considered for a bendy operation as the route is pretty much a straight route would have been perfect for those bendies.

I don't think bendies would have made the turn from Park Street into the High Street. For bendies would have required changes to the routing there. I've often thought bendies would have worked on the 109 however - same for the W7, 472, 108, other busy routes with big numbers travelling relatively short distances. 472 was also kind of touted for bendy bus operation as part of the Greenwich water front scheme which would have encompassed the route and used articulated trolleybuses

My dad did it on more than one occasion when the 453 was diverted So they could have kept the 12 running through. I guess even back in 2004 switching the 12 to the 390 to NHG removed a route from Oxford street and as said before the 390 did provide some new links to TCR and Euston/Kings X.

Apparently the Dulwich section was nearly lost as the residents objected to the bendys having to use a different road to stand.
