I am a betting man, and reckon if Sadiq wins the Mayoral Elections, he will be forced to put up fares again before the end of the summer! I do not think that would happen as we traditionally have fare increases in January, or recent one was pushed back to March.

Id certainly expect a consultation a few days after the election whoever wins as I think its too close now to launch one.

Now the election is over (although counting will continue into weekend), TfL finances will once again become a big unknown
Quick reminder Government gave a bailout extension until just after election (until 18th May) It was extra £260m (with another £225m depending on fares income)
So TfL have 11 days to agree a package, and if Khan gets in again (seems very likely), going to be no love lost between Conservative Government not wanting to give more subsidy than it has to, and Labour mayor
I can foresee much more savage cutting to reflect new normal happening

Although I would expect this to also show a few improvements to outer London to mask the really juicy cuts. I'm not sure what position the government will have now, obviously prior to the election there could have been an attempt to try to get Khan into negative limelight due to the election, however now there is no election will they calm down a bit or will they continue to play politics. The Conservative campaign here is to clearly ignore the city and focus on the more rural areas up North and in the suburbs so I wouldn't be surprised to see them turn against TfL instead of work with it.

I'd imagine the Sutton/Croydon results Will be released even if for the reason it possibly holds the key to what and how many the 413 will use but also the awards of the 439 and S2.

Don’t think there has formally been results for E1 extension to Osterley either, and E1 has new contract later in May After a period of no TfL Board papers, there should be papers for Programmes and Investment committee within next 48 hours ahead of meeting Wednesday morning 19th. These will probably give some indication of which way things are moving.

I would like to think an announcement as important as this would not be held up for the next working day and released immediately. Going back to snowman earlier post, the position on the £300m saving has softened from recurring saving year on year to just this financial year. £1b of extra income will be an interesting one.

It seems there's no agreement yet on a new funding package. A press release has just been published by TfL: It's not clear under what terms TfL is continuing to operate without a funding agreement in place, but I would assume there's some form of interim rolling finance package under which government agrees to continue funding operations on a day-by-day basis while discussions continue, but with restrictions on any new or 'non-essential' expenditure.
