Pure fantasy this one, not going to happen, but are there any non tfl routes operating just outside tfl territory or crossing the border that you'd like tfl to takeover? Thinking of places like Waltham Cross, Loughton, Watford, places which have a mixture of tfl and non tfl. Routes that would be useful to be "plugged" in to the London system. I'd go for the 66 , Loughton to Waltham Cross, also 418 Loughton to Epping via Theydon Bois. On a related issue, does anyone know what is going on with the 542 in Loughton. The number tiles are still prevalent on the stops, the timetables still there, but I thought the 87 replaced it. Seen 87 trundling around Loughton but no 542, but also no 87 tiles or timetables. Are they both running?

In a dream/fantasy world, a Tfl bus to Cheshunt would be useful for various reasons e.g. 310, especially if from Enfield as well Waltham X. A regular frequency 242 from Potters Bar to Cheshunt would be another one or a good alternative. The 84 would be handy too, as would making the 614 have Tfl fares/Oyster validity.
(I suppose if history had turned out differently none of these are THAT fantastical though obviously unrealistic now).
Do any of these accept tapped payments now? Finding cash is a major disincentive to use other buses when you are used to the TfL System.

I’ve suggested before that TfL should take over route 409 albeit in it’s pre 2016 form (before it was extended to East Grinstead) since that ran pretty much within TfL territory at the time. I also think TfL could take over Metrobus’s route 318 although this kind of duplicates the 166 running between Banstead and Epsom however this goes via Nork, Tadworth and Tattenham Corner. Seeing as Tattenham Corner station is in the Oyster zone, I’m surprised no TfL bus service serves there. Southdown’s route 411 could also be taken over as well as Falcon Buses’s route 408

On a purely selfish basis, I always fancied a crack at the 402 before it was withdrawn between Bromley and wherever it ended up withdrawn to! Fairly lengthy, lots of rural running, wonderful scenery - what’s not to like?
On a semi-serious note, I do wonder whether or not a TfL service to Sevenoaks would work. Obviously it’s nowhere near the agenda at the moment but I do think something resembling the old 402 could work
In a similar vein, if that theme park ever pops up in the Ebbsfleet area then I think it would be remiss of TfL not to provide a service there

Various non-TFL routes in the Kingston area could also be transferred, and some routes around Heathrow/Staines. And also some routes around Watford - perhaps the 306 to Borehamwood, 8 to Mount Vernon, and maybe a service to Rickmansworth.

Personally, I think the 84, 614 & some of the Heathrow services like the 7 have decent cases to be TfL routes - it might even help the 84's London section a bit more in doing so. The 715 in Kingston may be another good shout.

The 477 between Orpington and Dartford/Bluewater perhaps or at least Orpy to Swanley?

Since the 233 runs to Swanley plus TFL routes to Dartford I expected back in the day for the 477 to be taken over. Same with a tfl route from Barnet to Potters Bar. It seemed there was a commercial case for those routes to continue and the private operators were happy to. With other ones like the 293/405/406/418 when the operators pulled out tfl stepped in.

I think an hourly 402 operated by TfL between Bromley North and Sevenoaks would have worked, with a 622 schools variant serving the schools in the Sevenoaks area.
I also think the W14 and 362 could both be extended to Chigwell. I would also bring back part of the 505, running hourly between Chingford Station and Waltham Cross.
I would also bring back London Local Service Agreements and apply them to the following sections of non-TfL routes, rather than make these TfL routes throughout:
84 between New Barnet and Potters Bar, Cranbourne Road 614 between Queensbury Station and Barnet, St Albans Road 477 between Orpington Station and Crockenhill 420 between Sutton and Banstead 409 between Caterham Station and Selson and restore to Croydon - or perhaps split the route to run Croydon-Caterham Station as a full TfL route and Caterham-on-the-Hill - East Grinstead as a commercial route.

In my dreams I'd like the W14 extended beyond Chigwell to Chigwell Village, Chigwell Lane to Debden Retail Park, (Epping Forest Shopping Park).

And there is a suggestion above for a further extension beyond Chigwell to Debden Retail Park that could be viable.
